Hi I'm Rafferty

I was born in Germany, grew up in Washington state, I'm a music fanatic and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am an almost 19 year old Mormon doing what I can to get ready for my mission. I am also a college student about to graduate with my general studies degree. I am also about to graduate with a 2-year degree from institute. I love music, and I play the bassoon, piano, all brass instruments, and I also love to sing. I enjoy playing board games and I enjoy challenging my mind with puzzles. I do play video games as well. I work part time as a vetirinary assisstant. In the past, I have written music that I have conducted in performance, I have played in an all-northwest group, I marched Drum Corps for 2 years, I was a band nerd in high school and participated in everything. I love some sports like basketball, football, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, skiing, water-skiing, tubing, and dance.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I choose to be. The main thing about this religion is that you have to be all in or all out, you have to be trying your best and wanting to get better to be a part of it. Otherwise, you don't receive the blessings. I was born in the church but I became converted after I read the Book of Mormon great book btw, I recommend it to everyone D and prayed about it. I didn't get an immediate response, so I waited and I asked some more, and I talked to my seminary teacher. In a discussion with him, he told me his experience, and it was the same as mine, but he got an answer that he had always known, and that's when I knew that I always knew it was true. My testimony is a great blessing in my life because I am able to have light in my life, it gives me hope, and I know that anyone who wants to know of the truthfullness of anything just has to ask God with all that they are, wanting desperately to know what is true, I say this in the name of Jesus Christ, my savior, Amen.

How I live my faith

I am currently a YSA young single adult, and I am preparing for my mission, waiting for a calling in my home ward. I enjoy going to a swing dancing group on thursdays, activities on fridays, and religious discussions on sunday evenings. I do my best to share my beliefs with others by dropping hints or telling them simple truths.

What do Mormons believe about “eternal life?”

There is a major difference between immortality and eternal life. Immortality will be given to everybody, from the most righteous down to the most wicked. Everyone who accepted a mortal body and came to earth to be tested will receive their body again in the next life. Eternal life is where we come to live with God in the fulness of his glory in the Celestial kingdom. This can only be obtained by strict obedience to his commandments. Those who cannot abide a Celestial glory do not receive eternal life. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon was written by various authors ranging from Lehi who lived in the time of King Zedekiah in the Bible through Nephi, Lehi's son, all the way down to Moroni, the son of Mormon. Mormon and Moroni took all of the records written over the course of 1000 years! Lehi left Jerusalem for the promised land at 600 B.C and Mormon and Moroni lived around 400 A.D. They scrunched what they thought was most important into one record. Joseph Smith, empowered and enlightened by God, translated this record into what we now know to be the Book of Mormon.  Show more Show less
