Hi I'm Alexis

I love basketball, I served a mission in the Philippines, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am currently attending college, majoring in Secondary Education. I love basketball and played at a Junior College in Wyoming for two years. I am really close to my family, especially my twin sister. I served a mission in the Philippines and am fluent in Tagalog. I love to meet new people and I love to share my testimony of the Savior. I also enjoy playing soccer, the trumpet and the piano.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have found for myself that this is the true church, and through the Holy Ghost, I have had these feelings confirmed to me. I grew up in this faith and believed it was true, but there came a time in my life that I needed to find out for myself if it was true. When I went to play college basketball in Wyoming, I had an amazing roommate who was not a Mormon. I was worried at first if I should pray or read the scriptures in front of her because I didn't want her to think I was pushing anything on her. The first Sunday I was up there, I was exhausted and knew if I didn't go to church, no one back home would notice. But I decided I wanted to go for myself, because I loved the Savior and His Gospel. Ever since then, I went because I knew it was right and because I wanted to. The Gospel has been such a strength in my life and has helped me overcome so many trials and adversities. I am grateful for the knowledge that families can be together forever. Death is not the end, and the Atonement heals the sting of death. Our Savior has suffered for each of us, and He knows our pains. Our Heavenly Father knows us personally, and won't give us something we can't handle. We are never alone, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the food for our soul. With it, we will never go hungry. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

Currently I am a teacher for the young adults in my ward. I teach them lessons from the scriptures and about talks from the living prophets. I love to share my testimony with them and to help them understand the Gospel and overcome their trials in their lives. I have also been involved with Visiting Teaching, where the women of the church are assigned to a couple women in the ward, to teach them, and to help them in time of need. It is a great way to strengthen one another.
