Hi I'm Mallory

I'm a college student. I love to laugh. I'm a violinist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of six children and grew up in Idaho. I love to sing and play the violin, especially with those I love. I'm a college student majoring in English Education and want to teach high school someday. In my free time I like to spend time with my family and friends, as well as pick up a good book.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know the gospel is true. There is nothing that brings more happiness into my life than my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Every day I see the Lord's hand in my life. Sometimes it's a big thing, like when he answers a question I have been praying about. But often the Lord's hand is in the simple things. Often the Lord meets my needs through a letter from a dear friend, or a stranger who holds open the door when my hands are full. Seeing His hand so often in my life reaffirms my testimony that He cares about me. It often amazed me that the God of the Universe, who created "worlds without number" knows me and my needs, and is willing to help me always. I have been a member of the Church my whole life, but I know of its truth as firmly as if I had been a convert to the Church. The gospel is too good to be made up. I attended an old roommate's bridal shower recently and seeing her glowing face (glowing because she knew her temple marriage was going to last far beyond the grave) was a testimony to me of the truth. Nothing that brings so much true joy to this many people can be made up. I know that this Church is Christ's church restored on earth through His prophet Joseph Smith.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving those around me. Jesus Christ was the perfect example of service and and He showed us the way to be happy. I find great joy in service, especially when it is through the small things, such as calling an old friend or smiling at someone in the store. I live my faith also by showing gratitude to those who help me, especially my family and friends. I hope that as I express gratitude for their influence in my life they will see that I have a love for the gospel. I live my faith by living each day to its fullest, because I know that each day is a gift. Each day I try to become more like my Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ, and I live my faith by realizing that I'm going to make mistakes. I know that I'm not perfect, but I can feel peace knowing that I am doing my best. Because I often make mistakes, I feel grateful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ and its power in my life. I know that Heavenly Father watches over each of His children, and He is waiting and ready to help us when we ask His help.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Everything in the world tells me that there is a God. I love spending time outdoors and looking at all of God's creations. It is amazing to me that Heavenly Father created the universe, but He also created the delicate petals of a flower. I know that the beauty in the world around us is a reminder of both God's power and His love for His children. How blessed we are to be living in such a beautiful world! My relationships with my family and friends also tells me that there is a God. I firmly believe that God answers our prayers through other people, and I know that He sent me to my particular family for a reason. I love my parents and my siblings very much, and the simple fact that we have families tells me that there is a God. He loves us very much to send us to earth in families. Life is not easy, and I know that it is a tender mercy of the Lord that I will always have my family to be with me. Show more Show less

What is the Relief Society?

The Relief Society is the oldest and largest women's organization in the world. Established in 1842, the purpose of Relief Society is to build faith and personal righteousness, strengthen families and homes, and help those in need. Relief Society is for women 18 and older. I love being a part of Relief Society for many reasons. I love the friendship and sisterhood I feel with the other women. As part of Relief Society, I participate in a program called "visiting teaching." Visiting teaching is a program where each sister in the Relief Society has a few other sisters (usually two) who are assigned to visit her each month, sharing a spiritual message and seeing how she is doing. I love being visit taught and also doing my own visiting teaching. I feel blessed to know that if I need anything, there are women who are looking out for me and want to help me. I have developed close friendships with those I visit teach, because we can help each other and bless each others' lives. I also love the lessons Relief Society teaches me. Each Sunday we meet and are taught a lesson, but we also meet during the week sometimes and have activities. Through those activities I have learned many things that are blessing my life now and preparing me for the day when I have my own home and family. Relief Society helps me realize my divine nature as a daughter of God. Show more Show less
