Hi I'm Courtney

I have lived in North Dakota, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, Utah, Arizona and Italy. I'm a singer. I'm a mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am lucky to be a stay-at-home to 4 bright and spirited children ages 11, 9, 8 and 8 months. I am in my second marriage and love being an older "new" mom. I love baking treats like cheesecake and banana bread. I love to read, write, exercise, sing and dance and have performed professionaly in the past. First in my family of origin in an oldies band consisting of my 2 brothers, 3 sisters, our parents and I. Then with my two youngest siblings playing pop music of our own creation. I loved traveling to schools promoting a positive message and encouraging kids to say no to drugs and peer pressure as well treat others kindly. And now my sisters are my best friends and I don't know what I would do without them! I finished college one class at a time while trying to single parent as well as becoming a wife again, learning the ropes of step-parenting & blending families, and during several moves and a couple of pregnancies. I am concentrating on motherhood and love helping with homework and projects as well as cherishing my baby's discovery of the world around her. When my children are older I'd like to go back to performing or go back to school. But for now, I am trying to soak up all the joys of motherhood before they are all grown and on their own.

Why I am a Mormon

I always say that I know too much to be anything but a Mormon. I have recieved a personal witness of the Lord's love for me as I have been rescued from the emotional pit caused by abuse. I have served a mission and know in my heart of the truth spoken by the ancient prophets. I know the Savior lived and died and lives again. His love is the most powerful force in the universe. It has healed the blind and healed broken hearts. It gives me hope when I am feeling alone and in despair. I believe we are here for a great purpose and that our lives continue after death. In my trials, pain and sorrow, I have felt closer to Jesus of Nazareth and know that He knows my pain and overcame it all! Without him, I surely would be lost. I know he knows me and my children personally and can give me guidance and direction in my personal life. I never have to wonder why I am here and what my purpose is on this earth. I know because of the church.

How I live my faith

I pray and read scriptures daily. I read scriptures with my family and pray with them, too. I love praying for other people. I have seen miracles happen as I have poured my heart out to my Heavenly Father for my loved ones. Things don't always go the way I want them to, but I know He is listening and doing what is best for us. Currently, I direct music in my local congregation. I have sung many times in church and it is my favorite place to do so. My favorite performance was a song called "Close Enough To Touch" in which I portrayed the woman who touched the clothes of Jesus to be healed and sang about the healing. I have taught gospel lessons to our women's group and also to groups of children in my congregation as well as taught children music. I have brought friends to church and have seen some of them find the joys and freedom that come from living the gospel.

Are Mormons Christians?

Of course. Our full name is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mormon is a nickname that comes from our belief in a companion book of scripture penned by ancient prophets one of which was Mormon (thus the Book of Mormon) - we don't worship Mormon any more than we worship Moses or Abraham. We worship God the Father through His Son Jesus Christ, our Savior. We believe in the Bible and all the divinity contained therein of Jesus and His mission on earth and his resurrection and ascension. The Book of Mormon also testifies of Christ and supports the divinity spoken of in the Bible. Show more Show less
