Hi I'm Kirk

I'm a husband, a father, a dog owner, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in Charleston, South Carolina and loved every minute of it. I love the South and the people there. I enjoy home cooked food and good music makes me happy. Laughing is my favorite hobby. If you can make me laugh you are my best friend. I have a fairly normal family, but when we are together it is non-stop laughter. I joined the church when I was ten years old and have never regretted it. I grew up with amazing friends and I just love people. I attended Brigham Young University in Utah for a while and loved every minute of it. Folsom, California is home to me too. I love the oceans of South Carolina and I love the mountains of Utah; I wish they were both in the same place. I served in the Wisconsin Milwaukee Mission of the church( The best mission ever). I love life. I love my family. I love who I am and I owe a lot to the great people who have shaped my life thus far.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church when I was ten years old. The majority of love I gained for the Gospel came from watching my mother. I saw the light in her eyes as she lived her faith. I saw the happiness that she had and I wanted it. My father is a very strong man and is very dedicated to his family. My dad worships in his own way and I have found strength through his example as well. My friends from other faiths were also a catalyst that motivated me to discover my own beliefs. I was taught by two stellar missionaries and was baptized January 13th, 2001. My faith started there and I try to nourish it every day. I am a Mormon today because I put forth the effort to read the Book of Mormon and I know by the power of the Holy Ghost that it is true. The Book of Mormon has converted me to Christ. I have felt the influence of Christ's Atonement in my life and I can feel it everyday. The Gospel brings clarity and purpose to my life and it's challenges. There is no question about it, for me at least.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing the simple things that make the biggest difference. Prayer is a big one for me. I try my best to pray daily to my Heavenly Father and He is always willing to listen. I love the way I feel when I pray sincerely; it is almost as if He is right beside me. I struggle a lot to be consistant and I know that God helps me when I fall short. Prayer helps me reach out to others and resist selfishness. I share the Gospel of Jesus Christ whenever I can. Being a member missionary brings some of the greatest joy you can experience in this life. I love telling people about the hope that comes through Jesus Christ's Atonement. I try to serve whenever I can. I love going to church. The church meetings are inspiring and interactive; I learn a lot when I go. Scripture study is so important to me. I would feel so lost without the scriptures; I couldn't get through the day without them. I live my faith by being an example and opening my mouth. I try to be my best self.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is everything to me. It really is God's Word for us today. It really was written by Prophets inspired of the Holy Ghost here in the Americas. I have found answers to my prayers from reading through it's pages and it has molded me into a better person. The Book of Mormon is worth more to me than the advances of modern medicine. Why? The Book of Mormon draws me nearer to Christ, The Great Physician. It is so profound and still very simple. The book blows my mind. It helps me with current challenges and strengthens my faith in Jesus Christ every day if I let it. Show more Show less
