Hi I'm Shirlene

I'm a wife, mother and grandmother. I am a piano teacher, avid baker and runner. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am just an ordinary woman living a wonderful life. I am married to my best friend. He treats me like a queen, and I am so thankful to have him in my life. I have been a stay-at-home mom since our first child was born. I am the mother of 4 boys and 2 girls and grandmother to 4 grandchildren. I love my family more than anything and am happiest when I am doing things for them. I love the joy I feel when our family is together. I used to think running was something I would never do, but now I run several days a week for exercise and to release stress. My favorite time to run is in the early morning hours before the world wakes up. I enjoy working in the yard, gardening, and curling up with a good book. I have a passion for baking and am always experimenting with new recipes, which is probably the reason I had to take up running! As a young child, I would dream of being a concert pianist. I longed to learn how to play. Because of wonderful parents who sacrificed money and time so I could take lessons, I did learn how to play. I enjoy playing at church and for my family. I love teaching others to play and helping them develop the same love for music that I have.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon. It is who I am. I started out following the example of my parents, but as I grew older, I learned for myself through my experiences and feelings that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. I am a Mormon because the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ ring true in my heart, and living those teachings makes me happy!

How I live my faith

Living my faith is a way of life, not just something I do on Sunday. I work with the youth ages 12-18. I teach Sunday lessons and help plan and carry out the weekly youth activities. We have regular service projects so the youth can have opportunities to serve others. I play the organ for our Sunday services and also accompany the choir. I try to reach out to others in any way that I can. Mostly, I try to live each day as my Savior, Jesus Christ, would live. I'm far from being perfect, but I try to do my best each day, and when I make mistakes, I correct them as quickly as possible and take what I have learned and move on, trying to do better.
