Hi I'm Nathan Trone

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was one of the lucky ones who's parents loved the outdoors and passed that love onto me. I am not great at anything but good at a lot of things, like snow skiing, wakeboarding, rock climbing, mt. biking. The 2 talents I have always had that never took effort was drawing and being friends with anyone who will have me. I love to travel especially for work because they pay for it. I have been to Hawaii, Mexico, El Salvador, Canada, Spain, Italy, France, Holland, China and Thailand. I really want to one day go to Tibet and Israel. I love working with my hands and love fixing up my house and cabin. Most of my free time when not spent just hanging out with my son is spent working on a remodel job on our house. I just finished a master bed and bath in our cabin. I love to cook and I hate to clean which is opposite my wife, thank goodness. I am an Engineer and one of my favorite past times is organizing, not cleaning but organizing which is good because I have lots of family who appreciate and welcome the help. Other than that I put my pants on like everyone else.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for thousands of very simple reasons. It is an accumulation of years of small wonderful things that have happened in my life, reasons that have built my relationship with God, my Father in Heaven. It all started when I was about 5 years old and my Dad took me and 3 of my sibling camping. My dad loved a good adventure and with his old yellow international, we never needed a road where we were going. On the way up to the trail head my dad decided to take a "short cut" and well we got a flat tire. We were in the middle of nowhere. My dad trying to think of a plan and coming up short asked, what we should do. I remember immediately thinking and saying "we should pray"! Not realizing the difficulty of the request, I didn't see an issue and was sure someone would come. Sure enough a little time after our prayer someone came up the same inhospitable road, if you could call it a road, and took us all to the nearest service station and back, with a new tire. You may say that it’s just coincidence but I can tell you that after a hundred similar prayers, throughout my life, this was not just a coincidence but a loving Heavenly Father that is always aware and concerned for us, his children. But even more important than all these miracles or answered prayers, as to why I am a Mormon, was the accompaniment of a special feeling with all these moments throughout my life. That feeling is best described in the Bible, Galatians 522-23 and the best description of what I feel and at differing degrees is a combined feeling, of Love, Joy & Peace together at the same time. It is the Spirit of God or the Holy Ghost. I am a Mormon because I have felt this feeling of Love, Joy & Peace when I first read and asked Heavenly Father if the Book of Mormon is true. I have felt it when I have read the Bible especially passages where Christ is healing the sick or forgiving the sinner. I have felt it extremely strong the first time I was in the presence of a Prophet of God. You may say, how do you know he was a Prophet, I didn't, until he walked into the room, that is when that feeling of love, joy & peace hit me and it was the strongest I had ever felt, up to that time in my life. I am a Mormon because I have never run into a Mormon teaching that I was not able to find based and rooted in the scriptures. There is no teaching that is contradictory to the nature and will of God in the Mormon Church and it would be my honor and pleasure to answer any questions for anyone regarding the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The only time I have encountered a contradiction is in the imperfect lives of its members who are not perfect but striving to be better every day. I wish so badly every day that I could be in perfect harmony with all of the teachings of Jesus Christ but I am human and though I am sad for the wrongs I do to others, I wish I could be better so I could more strongly feel the love of God. My sadness comes from my weaknesses, my pride and my selfishness, those daily struggles that keep me from loving my fellow man and my God in the way that would bring me greater love, joy & peace. I am Mormon because every time I strive to be better and repent I have felt Love, Peace & Joy. These feelings of love have always been the strongest in my life after repenting and recommitting myself and recommitting my desire to love others more than myself. You may say that it’s not God or the Spirit of God but you, you are just a happy person, I would say it’s not the same, it’s not like a good joke or laughing all day with friends, though I love that feeling too. For me the best way I can think to describe it is like when you see a good movie and someone does a huge gesture of selfless love and it brings tears to your eyes because it is rare in life to see someone show so much love to another. This is that feeling, but it happens when your alone, no movies, no books, just you alone or you think your alone. You are feeling really alone or bad for doing something unkind to another person, you feel guilty and or sad, but then as you pour your heart out you feel this overwhelming love and forgiveness that makes you cry because you never knew that you could be loved so much, just as you are, imperfect in so many ways. This feeling of love is tangible, it’s a feeling that comes without the help of a movie or book or anything else it comes from a simple heartfelt prayer a conversation with a Father you can't see but then all the sudden you feel all his love wrapped around you in what feels like a warm blanket of love, peace and joy. I have experienced life without it and I can no longer bare it, that feeling is too wonderful, which is why I share this. I want all my friends, family and loved ones to know what I have, that they too may have it. If they want to feel what I feel daily, the overwhelming love of God and if you sincerely want I will personally help you every step of the way until you yourself know what I know, and feel what I feel. Once again like I said at the beginning, I am a Mormon for so many reasons, so many little reasons, hundreds of experiences of Love, Joy & Peace that has elevated my life and all my relationships to a level I never knew existed. I am a Mormon because everything I have found in the Mormon Church has only ever added to my happiness.

How I live my faith

Though we Mormons seem to be a funny group of people we are really just like everyone else, trying to live as happy as possible by laughing with our friends, eating good food, listening to music and finding those things in life that make us the happiest. We believe that God wants us to be happy that all he has given us is for our happiness in moderation. He wants us to seek after those things that bring long lasting eternal happiness. Living my faith is doing those things that bring me greatest joy, long lasting eternal joy, which is serving and loving those around me. Though I enjoy a trip to an exotic place or good food for me none of it has the same sweetness as when I find ways to help those around me. My fondest memories are those of loving and serving my friends and family.

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

Nathan Trone
We believe that the Holy Ghost makes up the 3rd person in what is called the Holy Trinity, God the father, Jesus Christ his son and the Holy Ghost all separate and distict individuals with one combined goal of helping all of us as Gods children be happy like him and receive Eternal Life. The Holy Ghost is also known as the comforter, the Spirit of God and the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Holy Ghost is a person of spirit so that he can dwell with us and whitness unto us of eternal truths whether of the gospel of Christ or science. All truth can be known through the Holy Ghost. Mormons believe that one saving ordinance in order to return and live with god is to recieve the Holy Ghost by a person that has the proper authority. We believe that God can and does speak to each of us through the Holy Ghost which is why it is so important to develop an intimate realationship and understanding of how the Holy Ghost speaks to us. We also believe that we can know the truth or falsehood of anything and everything if we follow some simple steps that God has given us in the scriptures. Mormon 103-5 Study out the thing you want to know is true Ask in prayer with sincerity of heart, having faith God will let us know through the Holy Ghost Just like anything else the More times you do this the easier it gets. Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

Nathan Trone
YES!  A husband and wife can be together forever and the most wonderful thing is that God wants us all to have this wonderful blessing. He has taught us what we must do to gain this blessing. Some blessings God gives us freely without any work on our part but most blessings are given to us only after we have done our part.  Show more Show less
