Hi I'm Patrick Woods

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am Patrick I am pretty easy going guy I am a single black male who loves to read the book of mormon. I know the church is true & what the missionaries teach is true. I know that the church will help those who help themselves & i know that if you give the church a chance you will be truly bless & I say these things humbly in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

Why I am a Mormon

I was playing someone in a game online through facebook called farkle the first to 10,000 points wins the game. there i met a young lady name Jeni Nelson who is from Brigham City,Utah & i saw she was a mormon so i asked her what the mormom church all about & she told me as we were playing the game. I ended up asking here when the game was over if we could continue the conversation about her church & she got really excited because everytime she would play someone online in a game & they saw she was a mormon they would logged off the game. we ended up that same day becoming friends & she gave me her phone number so if i had any questions about the faith she could help me out. so I ended up progressing in my talks with her online & calling her that I decided i wanted to see what the book of mormon was all about so she got the missionaries to come to my door & they gave me a copy of the book of mormon & i was about half asleep while they were talking to me on the porch of my roommates place at 9am on a saturday. I ended up reading from the book of nephi to alma in 2 weeks. & now I am reading 3 nephi I am going to be starting today in chapter 24 I ended up 2 months later getting baptized on October 16th 2010 at the Indianapolis,Indiana White River 4th Branch Young Singles Adult Branch. & this sunday I am going to be ordained into the Aaronic Priesthood as a Priest. I am having so many missionary opportunities from being apart of this church. I hope maybe you will add me as a friend on here so i can talk to you more about the church. I am the only one in family to join the church I am from Cincinnati,Ohio but came to attend Atterbury Job Corps Center where I was studing to become a CNA. my mother was happy that i joined the church but she said she has met with the missionaries before & said she does not wanna leave the pentecostal faith because mormons don't speak in tongues like her church does. my current roommates have come to me expressing there concern for me joining the church & want for me to know that the bible is true everything else the church teaches is not true is what he says Jesus told him. so therefore when I am able to find a job & saved up some money he would like for me to find my own place to live he does not want for me to be a mormon & live with him. my mother & grandmother & uncle all live in cincinnati, ohio I am the only on here in indiana. my brother who i have never met before lives in california & my sister who i have not seen since 1996 lives in virginia beach, virginia with her husband who is in the US Navy.

How I live my faith

I live by the commandments of the prophet joesph smith & just read the scriptures & pray to heavenly father for wisdom & understanding on what to do when I do know what answers are & just listen to the spirit.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Patrick Woods
The Book of Mormon is a record of God's dealings with the people who lived in the ancient Americas. Prophets of the Lord engraved the original records on gold plates. On September 22, 1827, an angel named Moroni—the last Book of Mormon prophet—delivered these records to the Prophet Joseph Smith. By the gift and power of God, the Prophet Joseph translated the record into English. The primary purpose of the Book of Mormon is to convince all people “that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations” (title page of the Book of Mormon). It teaches that all people “must come unto him, or they cannot be saved” (1 Nephi 13:40). Joseph Smith said that the Book of Mormon is “the keystone of our religion, and a man will get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book” (introduction to the Book of Mormon). The Book of Mormon is another witness for the truths taught in the Bible. It also restores “plain and precious” truths that have been lost from the Bible through errors in translation or “taken away” in attempts to “pervert the right ways of the Lord” (see 1 Nephi 13:24-27, 1 Nephi 13:38-41). The Bible and the Book of Mormon “shall grow together, unto the confounding of false doctrines and laying down of contentions, and establishing peace” (2 Nephi 3:12). Near the end of the Book of Mormon, the prophet Moroni teaches us how we can know the book is true: “When ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost” (Moroni 10:4; see also Moroni 10:3 and Moroni 10:5).
