Hi I'm Dave

I'm a convert to the church and have been a member for over 40 years

About Me

I'm a chemical engineer who retired after working 40 years in the electronics industry. I have a wonderful wife, six children, 20 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter on the way. My favorite hobby over the years has been singing. I've been a member of several barbershop choruses, barbershop quartets and a mens sextet who sang together for 20 years.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Luthern and my wife a Methodist. One of the bothersome questions that I couldn't find an answer to was: how good do you have to be to get to Heaven and how bad do you have to be to end up in Hell ? That question and others were answered for me when two LDS missionaries knocked on our door 43 years ago. The Plan of Salvation is one of the great doctrines of the church which gives me hope and brings peace to my soul. Prayerful study of the Book of Mormon has brought a confirmation to me that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer.

How I live my faith

One of the tenants of the Church is that everyone should strive to be as self- reliant as possible. Getting an education, living a healthy lifestyle, being financially independent, and having food and other supplies put away for an emergency are all aspects of that. My wife and I are presently serving as service missionaries for the church. We are managing a Home Storage Center (aka cannery) where both members and non-members can come and can food items for long term storage. Having food and water put away for emergency use gives a person a sense of comfort and we enjoy helping folks achieve that.
