Hi I'm Audrey

I'm a grandmother, I love singing and entertaining people and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was married to a wonderful man for more than fifty years until I was widowed a few years ago. We had two children and I now have four lovely granddaughters. I worked with my husband in our family business in a seaside town until we retired. I enjoyed working in our shop and meeting all kinds of different people. After my husband retired, he suffered from dementia and I cared for him for a number of years. I now live in the same area as my son, so I can see my grandchildren regularly.

Why I am a Mormon

I started seeing the missionaries after my son and his family joined the church. I loved having the missionaries round and enjoyed listening to the lessons that they taught. I was upset when my favourite missionary was assigned elsewhere. When I prayed, I asked Heavenly Father if he would send the missionary back to our area - and he did! Although I didn't know then how unusual that was, I decided that as Heavenly Father had listened to me, I needed to commit to him and be baptised. So I was baptised by my son at the age of 77. I go to church each week with my family and feel like some of the ward members are my extended family. I have learned much that I didn't know about the gospel, and everything that I have learned has confirmed that God is real and that Jesus Christ is his son, and that they love us.

How I live my faith

Although I am no longer in the first flush of youth, I enjoy good health and fitness. I put this down to living a healthy lifestyle in line with what the church teaches. I did this for years, even before I had ever heard of the church! I used to sing on the stage when I was younger, and I still sing whenever I get the chance. I enjoy singing by myself, but if I can cheer someone up as I sing, so much the better. I don't know much about the teachings of the church, but I have always believed in God and that Jesus loves me. Although I don't always succeed, I always try to do what I think he would want me to. I believe that he always hears our prayers, and always replies to them in some way, at some time.
