Hi I'm Karl

I speak Chinese. I ride horses. I teach in a university. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a son of God, a husband, a father, an Idaho farm boy, a democrat, and a professor of East Asian politics. And I am a convert to the Mormon Church.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my faith in the atonement of Jesus Christ and the restoration of His priesthood authority give me hope that I may one day return to live with my Heavenly Father and my family. A caring church leader and good friends in high school invited me to come to the Mormon church and I haven't looked back.

How I live my faith

I try to serve my family and my fellow women and men. I try to be the best husband and father I can be. I volunteer in the community and in my local congregation. I try to be an example of the Savior, Jesus Christ, in my actions and attitudes. I still have a long way to go and I stand amazed at the love that He offers me.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

The Apostle Paul teaches that we all fall short of the glory of God. Scripture also teach that no unclean thing can enter into the Kingdom of God. Through His atonement, Jesus Christ took upon Himself the sins, transgressions, suffering, and frailties of all mankind. And me! One of His prophets in the Book of Mormon invites us to "come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God."
