Hi I'm Chuck

I'm a Mormon!!! Most of all I love being a Mormon!!!

About Me

I grew up in E. Amherst, NY, married in 1995 to my best friend.. I work as a substitute teacher at a school district in the area I live and I retired from umpiring baseball for 24 years.

Why I am a Mormon

My wife and I joined the church in 1995 after moving back to NY State. We felt that we needed a church for Rob to grow up in. We are so blessed to have the gospel in our lives. We live it each day and we never have to worry about Rob, because we know he is doing the right thing and making great choices. I am a Mormon, because I want to be closer to my Heavenly Father. I want to be able to return to him, some day and present myself with a firm testimony and knowing that I had done my best in this life.

How I live my faith

I am a in the High Priest Group, the Membership Clerk, for my ward and I am the Troop and Pack Committee Chairs. I have been active in the scouting program, since Linda and joined the Church in 1995. I love gong to church on Sundays, participating in all the ordinances I am eligible for and sharing my testimony.

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

This question is the one that was asked most, but instead, "How many wives do I have? " Answer: "1 and that's all I can handle!" But seriously, when the saints were driven from their homes in NYS, Ohio, and Missouri, and Illinois, they were persecuted because of they were a "peculiar" people and the already residents were jealous of them. Crops grew regularly, communities grew like wildfires, and such caused tension amongst the residents. Only when they started proselyting to the surrounding communities did the uproar begin. the men were killed off as they were driven from their homes and the church wanted priesthood holders in all homes. In 1893, the practice of polygamy was removed due to the fact that Utah wanted statehood and President Woodruff went to the Lord for council. the Lord revealed to President Woodruff to end polygamy, for if Utah were to become a state, the church would have to follow the law of the land. So the practice of polygamy in the church ended. Show more Show less

What are Mormon temples used for?

I am married to my wife for time and all eternity. What a blessing that is, knowing that my wife and my family will be with me in Heaven and we will be able to talk and walk and be together. What a great blessing! Show more Show less

What is Mormonism? OR What do Mormons believe?

When people ask me what I believe, it really is a no brainer....I pull my scriptures out and turn to the 13 Articles of Faith. They, by far, are the best answers to what we believe in. Show more Show less
