Hi I'm Mike

I'm a husband, father, IT executive, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have worked in the IT industry for over 25 years. I have led professional service teams, application development teams, and customer support and training. I have had the opportunity to travel extensively to places like Australia, Sweden, Thailand, India, and the Philippines to name a few. I enjoy watching my children as they excel in music, school, and sports. Although the body isn't always willing anymore, I do enjoy playing basketball, softball, tennis, and many other activities. I have been married for 25 years, have 4 wonderful children, 3 of them in college now...ouch, and a fulfilling life.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a mixed religion household. My mom was a Mormon and my dad was First Christian. We never went to church when we were young except when we visited our grandparents as there was no church in our small town. When we visited my maternal grandma, we went to the Mormon church. When we visited my paternal grandparents, we went to their First Christian church. I have wonderful memories from each of those opportunities. When I was about 7 years old my dad was transferred to Utah. We literally lived 4 houses from the Mormon church building. My family, including my dad, became active in the Mormon church at that time. My dad would not let us get baptized until we were 12 years old. He didn't feel that 8 year olds could make that decision. He softened a bit by the time I was baptized at the age of 10. To make a long story short, I served a mission for the church and my dad helped pay for the costs. I was gone about 1 year when my dad was baptized. When I came home from my mission we all went to the temple together. I am a Mormon because of 2 main reasons. One, it is logical. The Mormon church has a living prophet and apostles on the earth. It has a set of scriptures The Book of Mormon that are a companion to the bible and teaches us more of the love our Saviour has for us. And, two, I have received a spiritual witness of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. There is no substitute for a confirmation from the Holy Ghost as to the veracity of this church.

How I live my faith

I try to be of service to anyone at anytime. I feel that Heavenly Father wants us to serve His children in ways that will help them and bless their lives spiritually and temporally. I try to set an example of treating others with respect, fairness, and true concern for their wellbeing.

Are Mormons Christians?

Most people refer to "Mormons" and do not know that the church name is actually The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. How much more Christian can you get than that? We, as members of His church, have a deep love of our Saviour and live by His teachings. Show more Show less
