Hi I'm Joy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of five, grandmother of 13 (so far). I live in Texas along the Gulf Coast. I love to read, I love to do crafts, and I enjoy the outdoors, as long as it isn't too strenuous.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the church by my sister. She lent me the book "Marvelous Work and a Wonder" by LeGrand Richards and while reading it, I learned so much about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I can truly say it is this book that converted me. Of course I also read the Book of Mormon, which is another testament of Jesus Christ. The gospel of Jesus Christ just made so much sense to me. It felt like I had always known about it and it just felt right. Now I have to admit there were a few things that were new to me, but even they weren't uncomfortable to accept. The knowledge that this church was just a restoration of the church Jesus Christ himself had established when he lived upon this earth, that we have prophets and apostles just like the original church, that we are led by revelation....all of these rang true to me and the spirit bore witness that they were indeed truths.

How I live my faith

I am not perfect, but I do try my best to be obedient to the commandments. I have served in many capacities during my 33 years of membership in this church. I have taught the youth of all ages - from the little 18 month olds all the way up to the 99 year olds. I was not a teacher before I joined the church but I have come to love teaching, especially from the scriptures. I'm not a scriptorian by any means but I do love reading them and learning from them and sharing what I have learned.
