Hi I'm Emily

I'm a wife, a mom, a good friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I met at a dance the day after I got back from my mission. We are still great friends and that makes being married even better!! We live in a townhouse we are quickly outgrowing, our goal right now is for everything to have a place and everything be in it's place ... 2011 is my year to not be rushed and get organized!! I 'referee' 2 girls and 2 boys, the score is tied and we like it that way! I love doing crafts, crocheting and hanging with my friends!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in an LDS home - my parents were born into LDS homes ... it's in my blood so to speak. But don't make the mistake of thinking that I am Mormon because my family is ... I admit I spent a good portion of my younger years relying on other people's testimony of the truthfulness of this Church. I had good Sunday School teachers that had strong testimonies and Young Women leaders that helped me discover my own testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The years between 12 and 18 were pivotal in my life. I learned that I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father who loves me, that I am of infinite worth, and that He wants me to know Him and someday return home. I am a Mormon because I know this is His church - all the pieces were put back together when Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to the boy, Joseph Smith. It's been restored. Mormons don't claim to be perfect - I know I'm not ... but this Church is led by a prophet of God on the earth today. He wants us to know and understand His gospel. He loves us! Being 'Mormon' is part of who I am - even my non-LDS friends will say that's true... I am Emily Shaw, I'm outgoing, I'm bossy, I'm super fun, I'm impatient, I'm loud, but I'm a good friend ... and I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am not perfect ... but I try to read my scriptures daily with my kids ... even if it's just 1 verse each! We have family prayers, couple prayers (when we remember) and I have my personal prayers. I work with the Young Women and I am currently working on my Personal Progress, I want to be an example for my girls as well as the young girls in our ward. I love to serve and I try to be the best friend!!
