Hi I'm Donald

I joined the Church in 1960, was medically retired in 1992, and now write weekly op/ed columns, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an aged great grandfather, who at the age of 33 joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have enjoyed my church membership for over 50 years. And I am still proud to be called a Mormon. Serving the Lord as his disciple for over 50 years has brought me great joy and lasting happiness and seeing my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren follow me and my wife into the waters of baptism has provided for me not only joy but purpose. My testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ continues to grow, even in later life and my growing testimony of God, of his Son Jesus Christ, and of the Holy Ghost has sustained me through my many trials and challenges of mortal life. As a life long student of the Bible I learned early on during my first missionary lessons that the doctrines and principles taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are for me more closely aligned with the doctrines and principles taught in the Holy Bible than any other religious organization. This knowledge became a major factor in my conversion.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe with every fiber of my body that the Church that Jesus Christ established during his mortal ministry was restored by God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ through an uneducated youth, Joseph Smith, in up state New York on April 6, 1830. I have lived long enough to have seen His Spirit at work in my life and in the lives of my children and grandchildren many many times for over 50 years. And I have been privileged to be a part of the growth of the Church from a membership of a little over 1 million members, mostly in western United States, to a world-wide membership now exceeding 14 million. And I have seen how the principles of Jesus Christ changes the lives of men and women for the better.

How I live my faith

I study and ponder the scriptures, scriptures that include for me the Holy Bible, King James translation; the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ; the Doctrine of Covenants, latter-day revelations for me; and the Pearl of Great Price on a daily basis. And I pray to God the Father daily with my wife and family, in the name of Jesus Christ, and I make every effort to live the commandments He has given for all mankind to live and find happiness. And I attempt to help others less fortunate than me, or in need, as often as I can, and as my means allow.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Any one can know with certainty that Jesus is the Christ by asking God our Eternal Father, with sincere faith, if Jesus Christ is his Son, and He who atoned for the sins of all mankind. I did, and my prayer was answered beyond my wildest hopes. This principle is available to any person who desired to know he/she is, where they came from, and what lives beyond the grave. My goal is to reach eternal exaltation, a step above salvation, which is available to all mankind. Show more Show less
