Hi I'm Rich

Well... not really "rich", just "Rich" in name only and I am a Mormon convert of 40+ years.

About Me

I was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California and while I call California "home", Atlanta, Georgia is where we live now... and will always reside! All of my schooling was completed in SoCal, after which I immediately went to work in the Auto Industry . Over my career of 40+ years I have worked for several major Auto Manufacturers and as a General Manager for several different dealerships. Now I work as a Consultant, still in the world of automobiles! I have been married to the same great gal for 50+ years and expect that we'll live out our lives together! We love to travel and have been blessed to visit many, many wonderful places around the world and here in the good ol' USA. My chosen career caused us to make 19 household moves and we have lived in the states of Arizona, Colorado, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, Florida, and many spots in SoCal... to name a few! Any free time we can gather is spent with our 4 children and 10 grand-children. We live in a Log Home on a large lake here in the North Georgia Mountains and we delight in activities around the lake and with our extended family. Other quick "notes of interest" might include that we were parents of a sweet Down Syndrome daughter who passed away at the age of 36. Also, we have an adopted daughter from India... I own a Log Home Company and build Log Homes (when the economy is good!)... I LOVE to putter around in the yard building "stuff" and landscaping! UPDATE: We are now serving a Mission !!!

Why I am a Mormon

Interesting question!! I guess that I was always a "spiritual person" and was active in my familiy's "chosen church" as I grew up. But... here's the interesting side note: When I became old enough to Date, I seemed to be drawn to the Mormon Girls my age! Oh Yes!! They always tried to convert me and introduce me to the "Elders" and to take the "lessons", but my male-ego and stiff-neckedness kept me from ever getting too involved in a serious way. It was several years after I married my High School sweetheart, who was a member of the church, that I FINALLY joined, while in the U.S. Army in Germany. WHY? Crazy, but being a bit "over organized" and anal, I was blown-away by the incredible Organization of the Church. Then the Testimony Grew!!!

How I live my faith

I love to Serve Others!! Over the years I have served mainly in positions of Administration as a Bishop, or Bishop's Counselor... Stake Presidency... High Council... etc. But the true Joy of Service for me has always been working on a Ward level with the Youth and Primary aged children!! Most recently I served as the Primary Choirister in our Ward - about 75 kids in our Primary! - and my wife Marsha serves with me as the pianist. Service Projects are another JOY! I've been blessed on several occasions to assist those who have suffered from Hurricane, Flood and Tornado damage!

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Many, many times friends and business acquaintances have wondered why I do not drink alcohol. Especially business leaders in the Japanese and Korean countries with whom I worked. It was always a exciting to explain the importance of keeping our physical bodies in good condition and having control of our mental capabilities at all times! Plus... I was always chosen to be the "Designated Driver"! LOL Show more Show less
