Hi I'm Harry

I love buildings, bicycles and beaches with waves and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a frantic final year undergraduate student of Project Management for Construction in London. I am married to the love of my life who motivates me to be a better person from one week to the next. I am number six of eight children and love being part of such a big family with all of the friendship that it brings. I believe that everyday should be a school day where we learn something more about the beautiful world that we live in and the infinitely varied people that inhabit it.

Why I am a Mormon

In the Book of Mormon there is a passage of scripture that describes why we exist. It says that, "men are that they might have joy" (2 Nephi 2:25). As a young child I can distinctively remember occasions where I felt real joy - the type that radiates from your chest whilst causing you to smile and smile and smile. My mother explained to me that the feeling that I was having came from the Holy Ghost, and that I was feeling God's love for me and his acceptance of the choices that I was making. Since enjoying such sensations of peace, love and happiness, I have constantly been aware of the things that I do or neglect to do, which give me more of these feelings or take me away from them and towards feelings of pain, sadness, despondency and apathy. The gospel of Jesus Christ which was restored in its entirety through the Prophet Joseph Smith, gives me the knowledge and tools that I need that allow me to, through Christ's atonement, change my nature and become more like him. By repenting of the things that I do wrong and doing my best to bring my life in line with his example, I am able to have the blessing of the companionship of the Holy Ghost, which helps me to feel of God's love and his acceptance of the choices that I make which makes me feel a kind of joy that I first felt as a child. The kind radiates from your chest whilst causing your to smile and smile and smile.

How I live my faith

Living my faith happens in a number of ways. I try my best to live my faith each and everyday through prayer, studying the holy scriptures and attempting to apply all of the things that I learn to my life. I also attend church each sunday to worship with other members of the congregation and to take the sacrament to renew the promise that I made with God at baptism. Thirdly I like the phrase which says that "helping others is the best way to help yourself". At the moment I help the bishop of my local ward to organise his time. He is a very, very busy person and does so much to serve all of the members of our congregation as well as those who are not. His time is precious and sometimes he needs a helping hand to ensure that he doesn't spread himself too thin which is where I come in. Lastly I am also assigned four families in the congregation to visit monthly, and my family is in turn visited by someone else. That way we are all able to watch out for each other, in case we are ever in need, so that we can have someone to turn to.
