Hi I'm Jim

I'm a Mormon. I'm a husband, father, and I happen to be a meteorologist. I love being a member of this church.

About Me

I am married and the father of four children. My wife and I have been married for 18 years and we have lived in several states during that time. I am a meteorologist and my friends and family like to tease me that I've always got my head in the clouds. I spend most of my free time playing with my wife and kids. We play sports, ride bikes, go fishing, launch model rockets, and sing and play music in our home. I am blessed to have the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my home and it impacts every aspect of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the church because I have testimony that this gospel is true and it brings me such happiness and purpose in my life. I have read the Book of Mormon many times and the spirit has touched my heart repeatedly confirming that the book is a true work of God, that Joseph Smith was indeed a prophet and that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored. I know that the Lord loves me and by living the standards of the gospel I feel closer to Him and that is where true happiness lies. Through my testimony, I have a greater sense of peace in my life and that is a wonderful blessing in a time when true peace can be difficult to find. I love the Lord and I am so thankful to be a member of His church. I know with all of my heart, that if you will accept the invitation to read the Book of Mormon, to spend some time thinking about it, and then asking the Lord if it's true...you will come to know for yourself.

How I live my faith

I happen to have a job that allows me to work a lot in the surrounding communities. I am a meteorologist for the local television station and I get to work with people to be prepared for natural disasters like hurricanes. While I do speak at a lot of church events, I also give presentations to schools, companies, and so forth, and no matter where I go, somehow people ask me about the church and how it helps people during natural disasters. I love being able to help during times of need and that's especially true before, during and after a hurriane. In my local area I have a calling where I get to visit a lot of the congregations and it's inspiring to see how people are so willing to serve and help each other. The gospel in action is a beautiful thing to see and feel. It's wonderful to see so many "doers" of the Word and it's a blessing in my life to be associated with people like them.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

We believe that God is our Father in Heaven and that he loves us and want us to be happy. We have been created in His image and we are here on the earth to become more like Him. I am the father of four children and I love my children with all of my heart. As my children grow I try to help guide them as they quickly grow up and I also watch as they go through some of the hardships that are part of this whole process. I would love to take over and protect my children for every harm, but I know there are some things they must do for themselve for their own personal growth. Our Father in Heaven has given us this beautiful world to come and gain our own personal growth to become more like Him and this is no easy task. God has given us the perfect gospel of Jesus Christ to help us on this journey. Show more Show less
