Hi I'm Jason

I love family, camping, climbing, sports, and National Parks. I believe that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah, grew up in Northern California, and currently live in North Carolina. I also lived in Brazil for two years serving a church mission. It has been a blessing to see different cultures and live in different parts of the world. I studied Management Information Systems and Educational Leadership in college. Currently, I work with ATM software for a bank. Growing up, I enjoyed a lot of outdoor and sporting hobbies - scuba diving, snorkeling, water skiing, snow skiing, surfing, camping, hiking, football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, golf, and just about any other sport with a ball. While I still enjoy all those things, my priorities have shifted... I get a lot of raised eyebrows when people hear that I have six children. Life is definitely busy and challenging with younger children, but it is well worth the effort! Our family enjoys camping, spending time in the outdoors, visiting national parks, riding bikes, hiking, watching movies, and singing (most of us, that is). The Bible teaches that "Children are an heritage of the Lord". My most important goal in life is to raise a righteous posterity and teach them the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I would guess there comes a time in everyone's life when they question the purpose of life. For me it came when I was 18 years old when I was away from home. I was born and raised in a Mormon family and I never had a reason to stop being a Mormon. But there came a time in my life when I wanted to know for myself if the things I had been taught were true. An answer didn't come quickly or easily. I spent a lot of time reading, praying, and thinking. Through that process, I experienced powerful thoughts and feelings - I knew God was giving me an answer to my questions through the Holy Ghost. Since then my beliefs and convictions have continued to grow stronger. I am a Mormon because I believe with all my heart that this is the Church of Jesus Christ. It is led by a prophet of God. Our prophet teaches us the gospel of Jesus of Christ and what we need to do to return to a loving Heavenly Father. I have read the entire Book of Mormon many times and studied its teachings. Like the Bible, The Book of Mormon has helped me to understand the purpose of life. I have also prayed to God to know if The Book of Mormon is His Word. My prayers have been answered and I have felt the undeniable power of the Holy Ghost confirming its truthfulness.

How I live my faith

In the Bible, Jesus taught: "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me". I live my faith by helping others. I have spent a lot of time working with youth and scouting programs. Young people today are faced with many challenges and negative influences. I love to serve in programs that help young people build character and leadership skills. Sometimes working with teenagers can be frustrating, but I am grateful for those who helped me through those years and for the opportunity I have to give back.
