Hi I'm Coreen

I'm a Mormon. I was baptized at 8 years of age into the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints (Mormon).

About Me

I am 70 years old. I was married on June 9, 1967. My husband and I have 7 children and 19 grandchildren. I love to read, do family history research, garden and organize (everything). My husband and I love to go camping in our 30 ft. trailer. We also just love to spend time with our children and grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I was told as a young girl that I could find out for myself if this church was the true church of Jesus Christ. I believe that God hears and answers all our prayers, if we ask in Faith. We are His children. He loves us and wants us to return and live with Him again in Heaven. So I asked God in humble prayer to please let me know if this was indeed the true church of Jesus Christ. Thru scripture study and fervent prayer, He did answer me. Thru the gift of the Holy Ghost, I knew without any doubt that His answer was yes. I am now 67 years old and still know to this very day that it is true. The scriptures say "by their fruits ye shall know them". I know this is the "restored" Church of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Mormonism isn't just a religion but a "way of life". We try to live like our Savior expects us to live. We "try" to do as He did when he was on the earth. We participate in our church activities, meetings, assignments; also community/govenment projects. We are happy to be a part of the Gospel.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a most wonderful and inspiring book on the earth. This book of scripture was written by ancient prophets that walked on this the American continent. It is named after one of these prophets who was the last one to write. His name was Mormon. The Bible is a book written about the people of the "old world". We believe it to be the word of God "as far as it has been translated correctly. We also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. (Articles of Faith, #8) The Bible has been translated at least 25 times, so many plain and precious truths have been lost or removed. After the Restoration of Christ's church to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon was given to all people to know of Christ's doctrines and his dealings with mankind. It is a powerful book. Moroni (a writer and Prophet) gives us, the reader, a beautiful promise. Read (Moroni 10:4) Each and every person can, if they are sincere and want to know, receive an answer if the Book of Mormon is true. By the gift of the Holy Ghost you can know the truth of all things. The Book of Mormon brings me peace; direction; joy and a love for my Savior Jesus Christ and a great love for Joseph Smith who was martyred in cold blood because of his testimony of Christ and God the Father and the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I know, through prayer and study of this beautiful set of scriptures, that it is "The Word of God". Show more Show less

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Members of the "Mormon church" worship every Sunday. We wear nice "Sunday Best" clothes. Dresses, skirts w/blouse/sweater/jackets, etc. for women. Men wear nice dress pants w/clean shirt; most wear suits/white shirt w/tie and nice shoes. We want to look our best to worship our Savior Jesus Christ. Nothing is too good for Him. Sunday worship service is a spiritual feast, one that I very seldom miss as I enjoy it so much. As far as holidays we celebrate, Christmas and Easter Sunday for sure. We are a very patriotic people so the 4th of July is very important, but we don't do special celebrating within the church. Usually the community does a great job of celebrating. We love and enjoy Thanksgiving and many other fun holidays. We also as a people love our families so we celebrate anniversaries; birthdays for all family members and other special occasions like weddings also. We are a happy people and love our friends and neighbors too. Show more Show less
