Hi I'm Nicia

I'm a military wife. I'm a mother. I'm a people person. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband serves in the United States Air Force and we certainly know how it is to juggle life with an inconsistent schedule! Did I mention, we tend to move a lot? Luckily, I get to be home full time with my 2 kids...a girl and a boy. In my spare time (what...there's such thing as spare time?) I enjoy playing tennis, being outdoors, creating/crafting, and baking scrumptious desserts. Pretty much, my neighbors love me because of that last one.

Why I am a Mormon

All of my life I have been attending The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I became a member at the age of 8. Growing up, I always felt happy to go to church. I had friends I saw at church each Sunday, I was always reminded how much the gospel of Jesus Christ blessed my life and I always felt good inside after church was over. It wasn't really until I moved out and started going to church on my own that I had to decide for myself how important the gospel was to me. I remember sitting all alone during the meetings, in a new place, and wishing someone would befriend me. I was so uncomfortable and wanted to leave to badly. I remember going home and praying, crying to my Father in Heaven, and telling him how I didn't want to go back. I believe, in an answer to prayer, a thought came to my head. "What is the reason you go to church? Is it to socialize with friends, or is it to worship the Father and His son, Jesus Christ?" Immediately, I changed my attitude. I remembered why I came to church, and why it is so important to me. It gives me the opportunity to edify myself. It fills my soul with peace and a sense of comfort that can be found nowhere else. I am reminded of the promises I have made to my Heavenly Father, and the one's he has made to me too. I am reminded how loved I am as a daughter of God. I am reminded of our Savior, and the sacrifice He made for me, so I can repent of my sins, and return to Him someday. That is just one little reason of why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as the "Sunbeams" teacher. The Sunbeams are the children who are of the ages of 2 and 3. I get to sing songs with them and teach them simple things of the gospel every Sunday. And they are so much fun! Their innocence and love for everyone and everything is contagious! I have also served in the youth organization teaching the New Testament in Sunday School, as well as organizing different activities for the adult women in the ward. I have also taught different principles of the gospel to the adult women on Sundays as well. I try hard to be a teacher through example. I'm always happy to serve in my church and to serve others because it always seems to make whatever difficulties I may be going through seem a little less difficult.
