Hi I'm Emily

I'm a Californian at heart. I love riding motorcyles. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up the middle child of 15 children. As crazy and dramatic as it was I would never change that about myself. I moved to CA, without friends or family, in 2002 to figure things out. I spent several years in a very dark place emotionally. I met my (now) husband in 2005 which changed my life for the better! We got married a year later. Just after we married we picked up and moved across the country to TX. With absolutely no family close to us we've come to truly depend on eachother. I love my husband with all my heart! We're expecting our first baby (a girl) on May 31, 2011!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a member of the church in a tiny town in Utah. I thought I knew what I wanted and what I believed until I became a missionary. I was sent to Southern CA for 18 months to help people understand the church. Those 18 months were very eye-opening for me! What I thought I knew I didn't know or really even understand. I spent that time doing my best to portray something I didn't really know if I believed. I returned home exactly one week before 09/11/01. Needless to say the economy crashed that day which made it almost impossible for me to find a job. My parents had moved while I was serving my mission so I was 30 minutes away from the area I knew best without friends, a job or transportation. I became very depressed! I moved back to CA in May of 2002 living with a family I had met while serving my mission. I moved from Mission Viejo to Huntington Beach in August of 2002. It was a couple months later that I met and started dating not only a non-member but someone with absolutely no belief in God. For three years he questioned my beliefs and faith. He did everything in his power to squash my belief in a supreme being. We dated until Jan 1, 2006. It was through those critical years that I discovered why I was a member of this church. I was in a very dark place throughout that time. The only ounce of true happiness came when I discovered that I truly had a testimony of this church. When I discovered that there is a plan and if we choose to live the way our Heavenly Father asks us to we find joy, happiness and peace. It took being with someone as dark as my friend was to realize my Heavenly Father is there and loves me. I truly know now what I thought I knew all those years ago; that the Plan of Salvation is real. That we are all spirit children of a loving Heavenly Father. That we each have the chance, through the atonement of Christ, to be the best we can be....even when we hit "rock bottom". I'm a Mormon because of the peace and happiness I feel in my heart. I'm a Mormon because it's true!

How I live my faith

Because there is no paid clergy in the church we as members accept callings to serve and teach. I've served in callings from cleaning up the building to teaching 16-18 year old girls. My favorite calling is called a visiting teacher. I'm given names of women in my area to visit and each month I stop by to check on them. Some of my best friends have been made through this program. It's interesting to watch and learn why you were sent to a specific person. The Lord is in charge and I've been blessed in many ways as I've served.
