Hi I'm Lois Kalander Casson

I was born in Panama and an avid genealogist & I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi...I am married and the mother of four children, three sons and a daughter. I have 9 grandchildren, five boys and four girls, ranging in age 15 months to 26 years. My oldest granddaughter recently added a great grandson to the family. My husband served 28 years in the US Navy, then retired from the USPS. We've lived in CA, TN, FL, VA and MO. I was born in Panama, a third generation Canal Zonite and came to the states when I was nine. I am currently avidly involved in genealogical research and indexing and am the Director of our local Family History Center where I teach and help others to do their research.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised Catholic, but when I was thirteen and learned about the secular history of that church realized that I did not believe any priesthoold authority could have continued through what I perceived as very corrupt acts. I could not longer be Catholic because I did not feel I could put my full faith and trust on the leadership. A year or so later I learned about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and heard the story of the Restoration. I felt this was the answer to the prayers I said when I stopped being a Catholic. It confirmed my belief that priesthood authority had been removed from the earth and had been restored in the latter days and, again, through prayer, the Spirit testified of the truth of that message. I haven't ever looked back. I feel that living the standards of the Church and heeding the guidance of inspired leaders makes me a better person. The Gospel has brought happiness and security to my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending my meetings, renewing my covenant to take on take upon me the name of Christ and live his commandments by partaking of the Sacrament. I full the responsibilities of my calling. I read the scriptures and pray always, daily reflecting on my actions, repenting of sin and resolving to be a better Child of God.
