Hi I'm Dave

I've live in Plymouth,UK, work in the Naval Base at Devonport, support Plymouth Argyle and love Karaoke!! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of five, 2 daughters from my 1st marriage, another daughter and son from my wife's 1st marriage, and another daughter that we've had together. We only have our youngest living a home now, the rest have flown the nest & are making their way in the world. I have a grandson and two granddaughters and another on the way. I manage a team of engineers in the Naval Base and love the challenges my job provides. I cycle (or motorcycle) to work and get further exercise by walking the dog (Jazz, a collie-cross) & hiking with my wife Tracey.

Why I am a Mormon

My wife has been a member of the church since childhood. We were married for 11 years before I joined the church, and the missus had very little to do with it. We were going through a bumpy period in our relationship and I was looking for something, didn't know what. We were on a half term break in Newquay and on the Sunday I went to a church meeting for the first time. One of the speakers, who I knew from going to social functions in Plymouth, talked about 'Happiness' and I felt that he was talking directly to me. I felt a calm & peace inside and I wanted/needed that feeling in my life permanently. Over the years of being in the church, learning & serving in a variety of callings, I'm still blessed to have that calm & peace in my life. I still have trials & tests but, with a bigger perspective, I try not to sweat the small stuff. I know The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church restored again upon this earth. I know that Joseph Smith was & is a true Prophet of the Lord Jesus Christ and by him the Book of Mormon, another Testament of Jesus Christ, was translated. I know that God loves each one of his children on the earth has a plan for each of us, we only need to have faith and ask in sincere prayer to find out His will.

How I live my faith

I assist in the youth organisation for the Devon & Cornwall area, we arrange dances, camps, service projects and encourage the young people to live their faith. I visit my allocated families with another Priesthood holder to teach them & offer our help in whatever way we can. I strive to be like our Saviour, but know that will be impossible in this life, as I'm an imperfect man. However I'll keep on trying to improve every day.
