Hi I'm Emily

I am a full time student. I have the opportunity to work with kids every day. I love shooting starts and snow cones. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 20 years old and I'm soon to be a Junior in College. I am studying Child Development. I teach at a preschool for kids with Autism and I love it! I love the color yellow and I love to sing and perform. My favorite dessert is a snow cone. I love to go on long runs, and hang out with my friends and family. I enjoy working with children and making others happy. I love life!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the direction and comfort that it gives me in this life. I love knowing that God has a plan for me and that I have so much to accomplish in this life. I'm a Mormon because of the peace I get in knowing that families can be together forever. It is such a comfort to know that our life will continue on after we die. I love the knowledge that I am a Daughter of God. The world is full of confusing messages, but because of my faith, I know who I am and what I want to become. When times of trouble arise, I know I can rely on my faith to keep me going and to keep a smile on my face!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by what I do in my day to day activities. The gospel is the central aspect of my life so I try to incorporate it in all that I do. I read my scriptures and say my prayers daily, and attend church on Sunday. I attend a Book of Mormon Institute class and serve as the secretary for the Institute Woman's Association IWA. As a member of IWA we have weekly activities, dances, parties, and service opportunities. It is a lot of fun and I love it! I am also a visiting teacher, where I try and help out the girls in my ward as much as I can. I serve on the activities committee for my ward and help plan dinners and parties for all of the young single adults in my area. I am also a ward missionary and strive to share the gospel and invite people to experience the joy that it brings. Living my faith daily is what brings me the greatest sense of happiness!

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Not all Mormons are necessarily required to serve a full time mission, but we can all still be missionaries without having to even leave our neighborhood. The Prophet has asked all worthy young men to serve a full time mission at the age of 19. He has also invited young women to serve full time missions if they choose to do so. Women need to be at least 21. Older Couples are also more than welcome, and often highly encouraged to serve full time missions. I have several friends serving full time missions right now and they are such huge examples in my life. Hearing their stories makes me want to be a better person. They are always reminding me that even though I am not on a full time mission, I can still be a missionary and share the greatest source of happiness, the gospel of Jesus Christ, with others. If we have something that makes us so happy and at peace, why would we keep it just to ourselves?! I'm so grateful for missionary work and for the blessings it brings to all those who both share and receive the great message.   Show more Show less
