Hi I'm Maren

I'm a wife. I'm a mother. I'm a friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife to a PhD student (Information Systems Management), and a stay at home mother to two sweet boys. I am also a college graduate with a BS in Elementary Education, and learned Spanish as a missionary for the Church in Uruguay. I like to read and to try lots of new hobbies, because I love to learn! I'm a dabbler in many crafty things; specifically knitting, crocheting, and sewing. I like music, and am practicing to become a better pianist. I love to sing! I like to bake, and to see what meals I can come up with from what we have in the fridge.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are wonderful people who taught me the gospel from the time I was born. My father joined the church alone as a teenager, while my mother came from a long line of faithful Latter-day Saints. Their examples taught me to not take the lessons I was being taught lightly or for granted. I felt a great desire to be baptized when I was eight years old, because I knew that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that the Book of Mormon was true. I wanted to be obedient to all God's commandments and to be like Jesus Christ. When I was baptized I felt clean and warm inside. It made me want to be a better person and to try everyday to be a little more like my Savior. I started to read the scriptures everyday when I was thirteen because I wanted to know more about Him. I love the teachings of the ancient prophets and how modern prophets and apostles have helped me to understand those teachings more fully. I love the comfort I receive as I read the Bible and the Book of Mormon, and the words of Christ that help me know what I should do in difficult situations. I love knowing that doing my best is enough for the Lord and that He makes up the difference where I fall short. The gospel of Jesus Christ brings me happiness and comfort in good times and bad times. I also love knowing that families can be together forever, and that I will be able to see and associate with my loved ones that have passed on in the next life, and that my descendants will be able to see and associate with me. Our family ties are important and make us who we are. I owe them my life, and I can show my appreciation for that gift by learning about their lives. While it is true that I was greatly influenced by my parents, it is my choice to continue to live the gospel they taught to me and to teach it in my home as well.

How I live my faith

I am a loving wife and mother and try to serve my family in as many ways as I know how. I try to be uplifting and kind in all my communications with everyone I meet or interact with. I go to church every Sunday, and pray and read the scriptures daily. I currently serve with the children at church by overseeing their gospel teaching and helping them to feel the love that Heavenly Father has for them.
