Hi I'm Mary.

I'm a student to be a teacher, I'm serving a mission in Argentina, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Mary and I currently live in Mendoza Argentina. I am from a small town in Georgia, USA, but live in Argentina as I was called as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to serve for eighteen months. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to serve my Lord and Savior by sharing the beliefs and knowledge that I have of Him with the people of Argentina, other children of my Heavenly Father. I am the middle of five children. My youngest brother was adopted almost two years ago and I love him dearly; I know that Heavenly Father meant for him to be in my family. I grew up in a home where my brothers and sister and I were taught to work. While I know to be very lady-like, I also know and love to get in the mud and work. My sister and I can mix, pour, and finish concrete, build sheds and chicken coops, repair, clean and organize a barn, build a wall, lay flooring, install a kitchen, fence, ride and blacksmith horses, herd and milk cows, hunt, clean a gun, and still go inside after a hard day's work and get prim and proper. The best thing about my family is our ability to work together and feel a strengthened and eternal love for one another as we face and overcome adversity with laughter and smiles as our theme song. I love to read and cook and (though I have currently taken a break for my mission) am a student at University with one semester left to double major in Elementary and Secondary education. I love to teach! I'm also a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a firm testimony of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that He lives and that He loves me, Mary. He knows me personally. He understands what I have been through, what I am going through, and what I will still need to endure. He hurts and feels the need to comfort me when I hurt and stand in need of comfort. He laughs and is joyful when I am happy. He rejoices in my successes, and he sorrows at my mistakes. I know that He lived, that He died, and that He lives again. And because He did, I can live, and die, and rise again, to see my Heavenly Father, to live with Him, and to become like Him. I have a very strong testimony of the nature of families, of their importance in my Lord's eyes. I know that He desires His children to be happy; that's why He gave us families, to help us find happiness and joy and companionship in families. I know, through my diligence in keeping the commandments, that I can live with my family in the highest degree of glory in the precense of my Heavenly Father for time and all eternity. I know that I am human and will make mistakes, but I know that, through the Atonement of my elder brother and Savior, Jesus Christ, that my errors can be recitified and I can be forgiven. He will make up for all my short-comings as long as I do all that is within my power and ablity to do what is right. I will be with my family for eternity. My parents will always be my parents. My siblings will always be my brothers and sister. And I will always be a spirit daughter of a Heavenly Father who loves me. These things I share with you in the name of Jesus Christ, my Savior and Redeemer, Amen.

How I live my faith

The best way that I have found to live my faith is with goals and hopes for the future. I can't conquer to world, nor can I be perfect like my Savior in a single bound, but with my Lord on my side, I can progress and be forgiven for the mistakes I make along the journey. I try my best to do as the Lord my God commands, in the scriptures as well as through His prophets, and to make them a true part of my life. I say true part to mean that I don't want to just check the box: "Yep, I read my scriptures today" or "Yeah, I am saying a prayer in the morning and at night". I want to do my best to make all my efforts heart-felt and driven. I want to expound on the scriptures that I have read, ponder their meaning and application to my own life, explore their effects in my actions and desires, and keep them close to my heart throughout the day so that I can receive greater understanding from the Lord. I don't want to just pray in the morning and evening, I want to have a meaningly conversation with my Father in Heaven and hear His reply to me; I want to always strive to have a prayer in my heart. One of the best ways that I have found to almost "checkup" on how I am growing closer to my Heavenly Father is to do service; to my family members, to my neighbors, and to people I love as well as those that, maybe, I have never met before. One way that I am serving my Lord right now is by donating eighteen months of my life to the spreading of the Gospel across the world by serving a proselyting mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Argentina. By putting a hold on school, family, even financial stability to pay the necessary expenses of a mission, I get the opportunity to serve my Lord by sharing the truths that I hold evident and close to my heart with the children of God in Argentina. I try to live my faith to the best of my ability, day by day, by enduring to the end, enjoying the journey, and progressing toward the example of my Savior.
