Hi I'm Laura

I grew up in Arizona. Now I live in Ohio. I'm a busy mom to three children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have the best job in the whole world--being a stay-at-home mom to my three young children. When I have free time I enjoy reading good books, cooking, running, learning about photography, and spending time outside.

Why I am a Mormon

The Gospel of Jesus Christ brings me peace and happiness, and gives me the answers to some of the most important questions Who am I? Where did I come from? Why am I here? What happens to me after I die? I know that I am a child of a loving Father in Heaven.Jesus Christ is my personal Savior. Through His Atonement I can find lasting peace. We are on Earth to learn and grow, to make choices, to live in families and experience joy and happiness. After we die we will live again with our families and our Father in Heaven. I am grateful to have a prophet on the Earth today. Just like in the Old and New Testament, the Lord has given us a prophet on the Earth today--in 2011! His name is Thomas Monson. He acts as the Lord's mouthpiece. We can also receive personal revelation from the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost speaks to my heart and my mind testifying of the truthfulness of these things.

How I live my faith

Every day I start again to try harder to follow the Savior's example. I try to treat others with kindness and respect, and to see them as the Savior would see them. I try to improve my relationship with my Heavenly Father through scripture study and prayer. I work to have peace in our home, to teach my children the word of God, and to strengthen my relationship with my husband. At church I serve as the President of the primary group. The primary is the church's organization for children ages 18 months until 12 years old. There are about 140 children in our church congregation, and it takes a lot of my time. I feel grateful to serve because of the joy I get from teaching the kids that they are precious children of God, that the Lord knows them, and that He has a plan for each of them to find happiness in this life, and after. I also serve by making regular visits to two women in my church congregation. I reach out to these women to know their families' needs and to be their friend. In our church we watch over one another just as the Savior would if He were here among us.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Laura
A "testimony" is a personal witness of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. We obtain a testimony by working hard to live the teachings of Jesus Christ, and by desiring and praying for a personal witness. The Holy Ghost is a witness of the truth. The testimony I have comes from the Holy Ghost through peaceful feelings in my heart and clear thoughts in my mind.  Show more Show less
