Hi I'm Kelly

Mormon. Family. Friends. College. Work. Hike. Piano. Dance. That's my life simplified.

About Me

I'm a college student going into nursing. I've worked at nursing homes since I was 16 years old. I'm the middle child...and I love it! Playing the piano, hiking and cleaning are good things to do to de-stress...or to just have fun. I spent 18 months as a tour guide at a historic site in San Diego. A few of my family members are/were in the military. Our family gets really competitive with the card game Wackee Six.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because Heavenly Father let me know that's what I need to be. My parents raised me in the Church, but I still had to learn for myself if what they taught me was true. I think one of the first distinct moments when I began to learn for myself that I belived in the truthfullness of this church came when I was reading The Book of Mormon for the fifth time and praying to know if it was true. I felt a gentle, powerful, joyful feeling in my heart that the Book of Mormon is true. I'd felt that same feeling at times throughout my life and never really recognized it until that moment, so when I finally recognized that feeling as the Holy Ghost letting me know that I was on the right path I made a choice to follow the example of Jesus Christ and strive to live His teachings. That choice changed the course of the rest of my life forever--I know that reading the Book of Mormon has given me the strength, optimism and courage to become more like our Savior, Jesus Christ, even in moments of fear and discouragement. I know that Heavenly Father knows me, loves me, and answers my prayers. I know that families are important to God.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in normal/general, but important ways: Attending church. Loving and spending time with my family. Befriending others. Being an effective worker at my job. Getting to know my neighbors. Getting an education. Striving to be a productive member of society. Setting goals. Being willing to change. All of these activities help me learn how to apply the example of Jesus Christ into my life. They help me learn how to have faith, hope, charity, virtue, and knowlege, how to be honest, diligent, humble, and patient.
