Hi I'm Ben Brown

I tweet, play volleyball, sing, dance, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student of philosophy, social media, technology, and the gospel of Jesus Christ. My favorite color is orange. I grew up in Northern Virginia as an oldest brother to seven girls and one boy. My family is so important to me. With my family I developed a love for singing and dancing. I've worked for quite a few years as a lifeguard. Right now I'm working as a research assistant to one of my professors and as a social media specialist for a non-profit organization. I'm a big guy, but I'm gentle; I have the build for football, but I'm not very aggressive. That being said, I love college football; specifically I root for Virginia Tech and BYU. When it comes to playing sports, you'll find me hitting outside on the volleyball court. I started playing volleyball because I hate running. Now I play because I love every second of it. I'm getting married this summer and I'm so excited for that new adventure.

Why I am a Mormon

I know this church is Jesus's church. I've read the Bible, and I've read the Book of Mormon. I know that both texts are the word of God. When I read them I feel the Holy Spirit. I can't explain to you the comfort and peace that comes as I read those books. I know that God still speaks today. I've learned that as I have studied the words of the leaders of this church. I feel that same peace and comfort from the Spirit as I study their counsels.

How I live my faith

I go to church. I pray to God. I read scriptures. I seek after truth. I follow Jesus Christ; I try to live my life in away that would be pleasing to Him. I try to emulate Him. I also strive to use social media to share uplifting messages.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Ben Brown
How would you dress if God invited you to his house? I would wear my best clothing. At church men usually wear a button up shirt and a tie and women usually wear skirts or dresses. I personally like bright and colorful ties. As a church we celebrate Christmas and Easter especially as they help us remember the birth and resurrection or coming back to life of Jesus Christ. I personally also celebrate St. Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Federal Government Holidays, Cinco de Mayo, National Donut Day, etc. Basically, I celebrate any holiday I can because I like to party. One unique holiday our family observes is called 'Moroni Day.' On the night of 21 September 1823 an angel appeared to Joseph Smith named Moroni. He was a messanger from the presence of God to give instructions to Joseph about translating The Book of Mormon. Every year on this night my Dad reads to us the things that Moroni taught to Joseph Smith. Show more Show less
