Hi I'm David

I have been a professional translator of 72 modern and ancient languages for over 40 years. I am a Mormon.

About Me

All my ancestors for over a hundred years were Mormons. I studied nuclear physics and mathematics in school but I am a translator. I worked in military intelligence as a civilian for nine years. I have thirteen children, nine boys, all of whom are old enough are Eagle Scouts, served missions, have or are working on advanced professional degrees. Only three of my children are married. The rest are still looking for companions having similar backgrounds and values. I served a mission in Brazil. I am a Ward Clerk. I have made many ancient language discoveries. I have been able to prove that every word translated by Joseph Smith is translated correctly. I like to restore antique cars and am currently restoring a 1938 Chevrolet and a 1924 Ford truck. I collect antiques and restore antique clocks.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents, grandparents, and great grandparents were born into the church. My great grandfather was selected by Joseph Smith to help him escape from the mobs and select a place of safety for the Saints in the "mountains of Mexico." He raised thoroughbred race horses and was a surveyor and surveyed Provo and owned Stewart Falls and built the first permanent house in Provo. I have always known the Church was true and never at any time doubted it for an instant. I have been able to reconcile every apparent problem with the perfect compatibility of Science and Religion.

How I live my faith

Like Abraham, I seek to know all of the Holy Commandments because I know they are all based on a higher intelligence than we have here on earth. It is only by living the commandments over time that we begin to assimilate the intelligence upon which they are based. I know that all temptation is based upon deception, and that no man is more intelligent than the commandments that he keeps. I know that those who commit sins have their minds darkened and believe things that are not so and disbelieve things that are so. The greater the sin, the greater one's knowledge base is trashed. It is only by learning and keeping all of the commandments quickly and strictly that we become capable of seeing things correctly. I love light and truth, or in other words, intelligence and knowledge.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Testimony can be a perfect knowledge, a belief, or even a desire to believe. If everyone were willing to keep all of the commandments, everyone would believe the same and act the same and there would be only one church. The reason so many different churches exist is to accommodate those who are not willing to keep all of the commandments. Every person has a right to be accommodated in his belief and not persecuted for his free exercise of conscience. But there is only one true church, and that is the one established by the Savior. No other church has any power beyond the grave.   Show more Show less
