Hi I'm Nolan

I am currently serving as a missionary in the Pennslyvania, Philadelphia Spanish-Speaking Mission and I'm a Mormon

About Me

My friends call me Rolan, comes from a song my friends made about me. Hilarious! Are you laughing too? Funny Right/ ya not really.........Anyways, this past summer my brother got me into mountain biking, i love the adrenaline rush. Riding up and down hills and on the edges of cliffs, the adrenaline rush that comes from being unsure whether to defeat your fear and ride off the jump, and as you slowly inch forward and let all common sense fly out the window, you just go for it. The excitement and feeling of accomplishment of tackling a fear is awesome! My other favorite activities are water sports. Wakeboarding, water skiing, and of course tubing. Who doesnt enjoy the thrill of a good tube war. I enjoy reading books on self-improvement.....like......"Think and Grow Rich" by Napolean Hill -"Mind Management" by......? dont remember and many more.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon and have been a Mormon all my life, but a year ago was when the question came to my mind...."is this the true gospelchurch of God and Jesus Christ?" In James 15 it says, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God who giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him." Just as our prophet Joseph Smith did i asked God if the Book of Mormon was true, the true word of God, if Joseph Smith saw God the Father and His Son, if being a Latter-Day Saint was what God and Jesus Christ wanted me to be. To find out, i knew i had to do my own searching for God will not just give you the answer, rather seek, ponder and pray about the things you wish to know the truth about. So I did just that, I read the Book of Mormon cover to cover and every night i prayed and asked God if the Book of Mormon was true, and every time i asked i received a subtle, yet undeniable answer the it was in fact the true word of God through the power of the Holy Ghost. I now know with all my heart, might, mind, and strength that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the only true church on the Earth today. It is Christ's church, and he guides us through revelation through his servant. Our modern day prophet Thomas S. Monson who i know to be a prophet called by God to lead and guide us. I absolutely love being a Latter-Day Saint!

How I live my faith

Beginning Dec. 1 of 2010 i became a missionary for the church. I give my time, and talents to preach the gospel to my assigned area. I awake every morning at 6:30, prepare for the day by eating and exercising and then i study for those who want to be baptized, who i love so much. I get to focus on the needs of others, grow my knowledge and testimony of the gospel and bring others unto Christ by inviting them to follow in the example of Jesus Christ and be baptized by someone that holds the Priesthood of God. Part of my calling to be a missionary, is that i have been called to learn Spanish. What a great experience it has been to learn Spanish and teach latino's in their language and learn their cultural. They're such amazing people....so humble, friendly, open to talk to anyone, loving, charitable. There is a Mexican convert family that we visit a couple days throughout the week and to see the difference of how their children have grown up and how they act, and who they are compared to other families i have seen who havn't accepted the gospel into their lives is like night and day. we'll call them the Rivera family. In a very rough city their children love and enjoy spending time with their family, they have high standereds and values, they read scriptures as a family as well as have family night every week, where they have a short gospel lesson/discussion, play games, and have a treat. Their 18 yr old son loves the missionaries so much and what we have done for his family. That he has gained his own testimony and plans to serve a mission within the next year. What an amazing family!
