Hi I'm Patrick

I the most bike ridin' life lovin' hard workin' sing song, son of a gun you ever seen! I served a 2 year mission in West Virginia!

About Me

I am 1 of 12 rowdy kids in my family! My parents are saints! I love hard work! I love riding motorcycles! I've been operating heavy equipment since I was 14 and love it. I could listen to classic rock and roll forever and a day! I have an associates degree and am going back to college in about a year. I am excited to get to start a family of my own. I love big trucks, big dogs, and good movies. I can make noise on the piano, guitar, drums and, harmonica. I love a good time and I'm a Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that Jesus Christ lives! I know that He has a divine plan for each and every one of us and that He loves each and every one of us more than we can comprehend. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is His true and living church on the earth today. I was brought up in the church and, for a long time, I took for granted how sacred and special this church really is. I was able to learn for myself how precious the Gospel of Jesus Christ is to me. I have had many hard chapters in my life that shook my faith, tried my belief, and tore down my testimony. Now, through obedience to the teachings of the Gospel, I have come to gain a testimony of my Saviour and His church so strong that I know I could never deny it! I know that my Saviour, Jesus Christ, lives. I know that He has established His true church on the earth today. I feel so blessed and grateful to be a member of that Church! I know that my Redeemer lives! He loves me and you more than we can comprehend! It makes all the difference in the world to me to know that He is always there for me, that He loves me,and that he will never ever forsake me! How I love my Saviour, Jesus Christ!

How I live my faith

I take each day as an oppotunity that I have to learn and grow, by following the teachings of the Savior. I strive to share the gospel with those that I meet through-out the day because I believe we're all in this together. I have found that helping people brings me joy. When I slip up I know that I can rely on my Savior Jesus Christ to help me get up and get back on the right path.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is how we can continuously follow Jesus Christ and do what he taught. It is part of God's plan for us, that we learn to follow Him by faith and not by a perfect knowledge. A testimony is the conviction you have through a witness you've recieved by the Holy Ghost that the gospel is true. You can gain your own personal testimony by praying to your Heavenly Father. Our Father in heaven wants us to gain a testimony. I believe that He wants us to ask questions; He wants us to be open minded; He wants us to consider our options and decide for ourselves. He does not want us to follow him blindly. He doesn't want us to learn of him for ourselves. While it is very important that we have people on earth to learn of Him and teach us about him it is also vital to our purposes on earth that we learn of Him through our own personal study of His word and prayer. He communicates to us personaly through the Holy Ghost and when you ask Him to tell you if the gospel is true, He will answer you. When you receive this answer that is the beginning of your testimony. As you study, pray, keep commandments and learn more of Him your testimony can grow stronger and stronger making it easier and easier to follow His word. Show more Show less

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was the prophet of the restoration. He was the man that was called by God to bring back the fulness of the gospel to the earth. Through him our Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ restored the gospel, brought forth the Book of Mormon, restored the priesthood authority, and established his true church once again on the earth. He lived his whole life to serve God and be obedient to his every command. Though he met harsh opposition his whole life for it, he stayed true to his calling. He gave everything including his own life for the safe keeping of the things which the Lord had entrusted him with and for his friends and family. He stayed true to his calling his whole life. Against all that he went through; beatings, betrayal, family killed and harrassed; friends killed; driven away from everything that he had; pulled from everything that he loved; threatened, persecuted, hated, scourged, and then brutaly murdered; he would never ever deny the work he was called to do. He never would leave his conviction, his faith, he would never leave his God. He was not at all perfect he made mistakes just like you and I did but, he was outstanding example of what it means to be a follower of Christ. I am ever so thankful for Joseph Smith and all that he did. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is one of the very greatest things that God has ever given to us. It is another evidence that we have of just how much He loves us. Because the true church that Jesus organized on the earth during his earthly ministry was lost, it needed to be restored. God called a prophet to restore that church. He gave back to the world everything that was lost with Christ and the apostles. He gave to the world the fulness of the gospel. By following this gospel we learn what we need to know; do what we need to do; become what we need to be to fulfill our purpose and God's plan for us and we gain true, pure happiness. What a glorious opportunity! The way that we come to know of the truthfulness of this restoration is through the Book of Mormon. In my personal opinion; to take something as big as this for true without taking it to the test is an insult to anybody's inteligence. I do not believe that God wants us to follow him blindly. I believe that he wants us to ask questions and learn things for ourselves. He provided a way for us to learn of the truth of this restoration and that is through the Book of Mormon. Anybody who reads the Book of Mormon and sincerely prays to know if it is true will gain a testimony of it's truthfulness by the power of the Holy Ghost. We can learn more of God and come closer to Christ by reading the Book of Mormon and applying it's teachings than by any other book in the world. I LOVE the Book of Mormon! Show more Show less

What is faith?

Faith is a Hope that leads to action. Specifically it is a Hope for things which are not seen which are true. Faith is like a muscle; the more you exert it the more it grows. We exert our faith by following God's word even in the times that we don't want to or we don't understand why. If we do this then God will bless us and he will grant us more understanding than we had before. These blessings help strengthen our faith. The Lord can only bless us with evidence of things when we show faith in them. Show more Show less

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Well when we go to church we show our respect to God by dressing our best. For me, my best is a dark suit with a white shirt and a tie. For others it might be a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, nothing wrong with that. We try to maintain a standard of modesty so that the way we dress doesn't distract from why we are really there. Yeah! We celebrate holidays! I am a huge fan of Christmas! I celebrate Easter, Halloween, the Fourth of July, Birthdays, New Years... Really all of them! If it is a cause to get together to celebrate and enjoy good company for a good cause, then I'm in! We have a special standard for the youth in the church. This includes rules on dating, dress, entertainment and other things. It is designed to keep them safe and away from more temptation than they need. Those who follow the standards are actually much more prepared for real life than those who don't. You'd be surprised! It is custom in the church to try to marry someone else already in the church. This is to create a good atmosphere to raise children into the Gospel where both parents have the same goal in mind. It is always nice when Mom and Dad are on the same page! Twice a year we have what is called General Conference. Members of the church all over the world tune in their tv's, radio's, computers, or whatever they have, to listen to the leaders of our church give us counsel and guidace. Super Cool!
