Hi I'm Ian

I'm a college student, I commute by bicycle, I use art to express myself, I give the world a reason to dance, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Ian, one of four children. I also have three step siblings. I'm currently a college student studying computer art, and I commute to school by bicycle to save gas. My hobbies include doing both digital and traditional art, playing video games and sports, learning new songs on the guitar, swimming at the beach, hanging out with friends, and riding my bike. I was born in Utah, grew up in Wyoming, and currently live in sunny California. I was born in and grew up in this church. My mom always told me that if I didn't want to go to this church when I grew up that I didn't have to... and here I am!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was born a Mormon; on the contrary, I am not a Mormon because my parents expect me to be -- I am a Mormon because I choose to be! When it really comes down to it, I don't know everything about life, but I know enough. I know enough to say that I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and my brother, that our Heavenly Father still speaks to us today, and that by living a life based on those principles we will be filled with Their love and Spirit to comfort and guide us. I thrive on that feeling, and I long for it when I grow away. By no means am I perfect... and that's why I'm a Mormon! Because it helps me to become more like my Savior, and because following Him is what makes me happiest in my life. There is a saying in Spanish that the church members say which is, "Ser mormón es ser feliz," which translates to, "To be Mormon is to be happy," and isn't that the truth! The bottom line is that by living the principles the Church teaches and by following it's guidelines I'm happier than by any other way I could be living, and I know this from personal experience! Try it out for yourself and let me know if I'm wrong.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping it simple. This year one of my new year's resolutions was to read my scriptures every day, and it has had a profound impact on me so far. I have been happier this year than ever before. Other things I do to live my faith are attend church services weekly, pray morning and night at least, participate in other church activities during the week, and do my best to live the way Christ would.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

You can know if what we believe is true by paying close attention to the deepest feelings in your heart as you read and study from the Book of Mormon. These feelings come from the Holy Ghost and remind us of what is true. As you sincerely search for answers to life's questions, your Father in Heaven will point you to where He wants you to go.
