Hi I'm Eme

I love Jane Austen. My kids and husband take up all my time. I dance in the kitchen. I love travel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live outside of the US for a job opportunity we received in agriculture. I have a very busy day at home with five daughters as a homeschool mom. Sometimes I feel isolated from loved ones, frustrated with kids, or stressed out by finances, but the overall flow of life fore me feels really right and I like where I am going. Keeping perspective gives me joy. I take an art class from a local artist who is awesome. I dance around to music and by now my kids are used to it. I love creativity. Today, I wrote on my Facebook page: "Live to learn. Follow Jesus. Raise leaders. Love wholly. (This was my vision for this week...the shortest version of a mission statement yet! That was five seconds affords.)"

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a teenager, I was happy, had fun, and felt alright and normal. But, when a friend entered my life who was such a bright light and so amazing to me, I felt swooped up! She didn't seem to tell me to do anything, but I read scriptures alongside her for the first time of my life and I started to pray. I knew that when I did these things on my own, that feelings of security and real clarity and spiritual peace entered my heart and began changing my life in ways I am so grateful for. I am thankful for my friend's introduction from her life lived well, but I own my experiences and the best choice ever of joining the Church. I still find growth and grounding in continued nearness. It is not about getting the basics and taking on an identity, but about a relationship that is very real. I feel God's love and direction in my life. That is the best!

How I live my faith

Faith means to me trusting that God's advice is right, then showing it with my choices. Right now, I demonstrate this faith by reading scriptures with my kids. It helps that they clearly respond, but I trust that I am also building a foundation that will serve them in the long run and strengthen our family. We also pray together for the same reasons. At church, I am actively involved in young girls' lives in teaching classes and in all sorts of text messages. I feel strongly about supporting them in their families and in guiding them through my interaction to their own connection with God. No one can replace that personal guidance. I also live my faith in the small things of doing something I think Jesus would do. Last year, I read the gospels in the New Testament line by line, taking notes. It was awesome! I felt close to God. All these things are examples of how faith plays out in my life.
