Hi I'm Wendy

I'm a Homeschooling Mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a former elementary school teacher turned renegade homeschool mom. I spend most of my time educating my three children, one of whom is moderately to severely autistic. Though my dreams of a picture-perfect family died long ago, I still find joy in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

Following the gospel of Jesus Christ, as outlined in the scriptures has brought peace and security to my life. I have looked for answers to the problems I face just about everywhere; in college classrooms, secular books, medical books, with medical professionals, with teachers, the internet and with other Moms. The only places that consistently give me the answers I need are the scriptures and down on my knees in prayer.

How I live my faith

Raising a child with a disability is often very isolating. With the support of my church members my family and I are able to attend church together. We are blessed to have leaders that include our son whenever possible. This allows me to care for, serve, and teach other members of our church. It allows my family to be involved where we would otherwise be alone. It's in this way that I feel our church unit functions very much like a family, just on a larger scale. It's easy for me to see why this is part of God's church here on Earth.
