Hi I'm Dave

I'm a Mormon. I'm also a Husband, Father and Grandfather and I love road cycling

About Me

I'm married to the love of my life and we have four great kids who are married to spouses we love just as much. We are grandparents of nine under the age of 12 that we love to be with whenever we can. I love old western movies, hiking and camping, skiing, road cycling, woodwork, architecture in the Greene & Greene style, being a dad and grandpa. I attended university where I studied engineering and worked in the software industry and now as a program manager for FamilySearch.org. I served a full-time mission to Toronto, Ont. Canada from 1975-77 and still have contact with many missionaries and dear friends I met while serving there.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the gospel of Jesus Christ because it brings meaning and direction to my life. I'm grateful that I can repent for my mistakes, sins and error in thinking and become a better person through His teachings, example and His grace. I know this is possible because Jesus, the Son of God made atonement for me and all mankind. I have a loving Heavenly Father who knows me and has provided a plan for me and each of us to be happy while here on earth and provides an opportunity for us to choose eternal life with Him. These truths are taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints through ancient and modern Prophets. They are sure promises contained in the Holy Bible and clarified in the Book of Mormon which serves as a second witness of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Savior and Redeemer of the world. I testify that because the Lord loves each of us, He has restored His gospel in its fullness and while His truths are found in many religions, He kept His covenant to us that His gospel and plan for His children would be available in it's fullness in the latter days, never again to be taken or lost. I know that all His truths and His doctrine are found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know for myself that it's true and I know you can know it too by investigation, study, prayer and obedience to His commandments I testify in the name of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints we have a lay clergy and I have the opportunity to serve my neighbors by volunteering my time and any talents or abilities I may have. I have served as a Scoutmaster and love working with boys and young men applying the principals of Scouting in the great outdoors of Utah. I enjoy doing family history and finding information about my ancestors, learning about their lives, stories, their faith and the trials and successes they lived. I love Jesus Christ, he is the perfect example of what we can become. I try to treat others the way I would want to be treated. My faith teaches me the value of my family and the time I spend with them is precious and even sacred. I love them with all my heart.
