Hi I'm Kari Anderson

I'm a music lover, a world traveler, a convert, amo Peru, and I'm proud to be a Mormon!

About Me

I am a convert of four years to the church and it has been the most fulfilling four years of my life! I was raised catholic and never saw myself joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In fact I avoided learning more about the church but as I opened my heart and finally listened to the missionaries I began to see great light and happiness enter into my life. I have been blessed immensely as I have learned and applied the restored gospel in my life. I am the only member of my family and my hope is that they will and all, who are even the slightest bit curious, will be able to open their hearts and learn more. Feel free to contact me with ANY questions! What do you have to lose? I was blessed to serve as a missionary in the Peru Lima West mission and I LOVE EVERYTHING to do with Peru! I am now a full time student working on a degree in Latin American studies with a minor in international development and non-profit organizations. I have always had a passion for travel and I hope to be able to make a difference in helping developing countries. I love the outdoors; hiking, snowboarding, and running! Music is also a passion of mine whether it’s singing in choir, playing my cello, or simply having crazy “just dance” parties with my friends!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in Catholic home but it always felt like there was something missing, even at church. In high school I made new friends who were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They had a happiness I didn’t understand so I began to research their church. Because I never asked what they believed or met with the missionaries I was led to a lot of misinformation and dismissed it. Later I was struggling in my relationship with God when I ran into a missionary who invited me to learn more about the church. I went to be polite and expected to go once and tell them that it was not for me. As I began to read the Book of Mormon and learn more about the church I saw my life change. I had a better relationship with my Heavenly Father, family, and I felt a fulfillment I had never had before. I am a member of the church because I know that it is true! I have never felt such a swelling of conviction than when I prayed to know if it was the true and if I should be baptized. I know that it can be hard to learn more and to make the changes necessary to grow closer to Christ but I also know that our Heavenly Father loves us and would never ask us to do something unless it would bring us happiness. I know that he sometimes leads us to unexpected paths but that the blessings we receive in following Him far outweigh any trials we face along the way. I know that through His son Jesus Christ all things are possible and I have never felt more close to them as I do now.

How I live my faith

I live my faith daily! It is more than a weekly routine but a daily effort at improving my relationship and understanding of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father. We all must "take up his cross daily" (Luke 9:23). Although I have a long way to go I try my best to live my life according to the commandments that the Lord has given. I live my faith through daily prayer and scripture study which has brought me both knowledge and joy! I also try to stay involved by attending church and church activities regularly, through attending institute classes, going to the temple, and through sharing this beautiful message of the restored Gospel with others!

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

Kari Anderson
The Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead, a spirit that is responsible for witnessing of truth. He works with Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father in order to help guide us so that we are living our lives in harmony with the Gospel. We believe that all have an understanding of right from wrong and can feel the influence of the Holy Ghost from time to time but that it is only through the laying of hands by someone with the proper priesthood authority that we can receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, which is his constant companionship. I know that since I have received the Gift of the Holy Ghost I felt a distinct difference in my life. When I pray and throughout my daily activities I am better able to understand God’s will for me by being more sensitive to the quiet promptings of the spirit. Having the Gift of the Holy Ghost has brought great comfort and joy into my life and I know that it is helping me grow into the person that my Heavenly Father wishes me to be. Show more Show less
