Hi I'm Greg

I grew up in Kansas. My wife of 40 years and I have a mission call to serve in the Adriatic North Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Kansas, joined the Navy when I was 19, met my wife in San Diego, and ended up in Wisconsin, my wife's native state. We were married over 40 years ago. I recently retired from a career in the electric utility industry. My wife and I have two grown children and 7 grandchildren with the eighth one on the way. We have recently received a mission call to serve in the Adriatic North Mission and to learn the Croatian Language. My wife and I love the outdoors and enjoy biking, canoeing, and walking. My real passion is sailing. We have sailed all over the bay of Green Bay and have ventured out onto Lake Michigan on occasion on our 31 ft. cruising sailboat.

Why I am a Mormon

Shortly after our marriage, my wife and I decided we needed to find a church. Either of us were active in our respective christian churches so we were open to anything. So we started what I call a search for truth. We attended several of the local churches in the neighborhood but did not find what we were looking for. Early in this process, a couple of Mormon Missionaries knocked on our door and shared a message of the restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ in these modern times. I was intrigued by their message and impressed by their faith and began studying with them. I started reading the Book of Mormon and found that it provided great insights into God's will for his children and much direction for me personally. I could not deny that it was God's word. Not long after that I was baptized and have been active ever since. That was 40 years ago!! I have had the opportunity to serve in many leadership positions including Bishop and Stake President and now have received a call to serve a full-time mission with my wife in the Adriatic North Mission. I have learned over the years that if we will turn heart to the Savior and follow Him, he will bless us in ways we can't even imagine. He has and continues to open great doors of opportunity to me!! I testify of the great work of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and know that it is the Kingdom of God on the earth. The purpose of the Church is to invite all to come unto Christ and prepare themselves in this life to meet God, our Heavenly Father. I testify of this in the name of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

When I was first baptized 40 years ago, I understood that the Church was an active organization and if I wanted to receive the fullness of the blessings it promised to its members I needed to be active in the Church. So I committed to attend all of the meetings and activities I could and to be consistent with my personal scripture study and prayers. I have through the years expanded that to a little personal worship routine I practice every morning before leaving the house. It includes singing a hymn, praying, and reading or listening to something uplifting that includes the scriptures. This routine has allowed me to draw near to my Heavenly Father and start every day on a good spiritual note. This commitment has allowed me to understand God's will for me and has given me tremendous opportunities to serve my fellow-man. I have had opportunities to serve in many leadership positions which helped me overcome my shyness and fear of speaking in front of people and to develop leadership and organizational skills that have helped me in every aspect of my life, including my career. My membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been a tremendous blessing in my life.
