Hi I'm Sam Roskelley

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Virginia. My family have been members of the church for generations.

About Me

My wife and I have been married for 28 years. She is the best thing in my life. We have four kids and a two year old grand daughter. I am a structural engineer and I have my own small consulting firm. I like everything old so we live in an old house and I drive an antique car. My office is in an old house I restored that was built in 1816. It was the boyhood home of confederate general Robert Rodes.

Why I am a Mormon

The church is the foundation of everything in my life. I believe that the Lord, Jesus Christ, is real and that he knows me and loves me. The church helps me to understand the reasons for life and gives me hope for the future. It teaches me to live righteously and to serve others. The people at church are wonderful, but it's really the doctrine, the scriptures and the ordinances that make it important to me.

How I live my faith

I currently serve in the church as a bishop. It's a lot of work but it's also very rewarding. I've always felt I've been blessed when I serve in the church. I've had opportunities to teach the youth, to plan and participate in service projects, and to help out in scouting. It's all been very positive. I try to show my faith by being willing to help out in any way that I'm asked.
