Hi I'm Troy Martin

I am blessed with a wonderful wife and four great children. I love working at BYU, Jeeps, triathlon, Oregon Coast and chocolate.

About Me

I joined the Office of the CIO at Brigham Young University (BYU) in March of 2010 and is currently serving as an Enterprise Architect and Committee Chair for the Enterprise Governance Advisory Board (EGAB) for Web Services. This includes overseeing the policies and governance associated with web services and driving the overall vision for an Enterprise Service Oriented Architecture. My work as an Enteprise Architect as similar to that of a "city planner" and I get the opportunity to work with departments and colleges across BYU as well as other LDS Church entities to coordinate and review the architectural designs of enterprise technology solutions. I work with others to ensure that software Enterprise Architecture guidelines and standards are in harmony with industry best practices and with the strategic goals of the Church and University. My overall goal is to ensure that University systems are capable of change, enable the reuse of enterprise systems and data and promote cost effective solutions. Enterprise Architecture allows me to combine his educational background in (Electrical) Engineering (B.S., 1992) and a Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis in Technology Management (M.B.A, 1996). I have a lovely and talented wife who pretends to be interested in Enterprise Architecture and 4 smart and beautiful children who don't pretend at all to be interested in what Dad does all day.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was born into the Mormon faith I stay a Mormon because I have come to know for myself through personal prayer and numerous life experiences that the "Mormon" church, is indeed the church of Jesus Christ. As a Christian follower of Jesus Christ I believe that we are indeed living in the latter days. Because I make mistakes I need Jesus Christ in my life to continually improve. The Mormon church is the only church on earth that holds the keys and power to bind me to my family in this life and in the life to come.

How I live my faith

I start each day with prayer and ask for help to work hard, be good, and to be kind to others. When I'm lazy, bad, or mean I ask for forgiveness and start over. Hopefully I'm learning to work harder, be better, and a little nicer each day. One day...the "work will be done", I'll be perfected through Jesus Christ's atonement, and hopefully worthy of the greatest gift--charity. Until then, I start each day with prayer...
