Hi I'm Brooke

But I currently prefer to go by "Sister." And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my family. I love serving in the Arizona Phoenix mission as a sister missionary. I love books. I love to laugh. I love riding a bike in a skirt. I love yoga. I love almond milk. I love my companion. I love traveling the world. But mostly, I love my Savior Jesus Christ and His restored gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because Heavenly Father has confirmed to me that I need to be. I am a Mormon by birth and by choice. It's not like I have never questioned my faith and my belief in this Church. I have... over and over again. But everytime I do, I go through the same process of asking God whether the Book of Mormon is true, whether Joseph Smith was a prophet, and whether the LDS Church is completely true. Without fail, everytime I have sincerely asked, I have received an answer that it is true. After going through this process for my whole life, there is little room for doubt.

How I live my faith

These days, I live my faith by talking about it to everyone in sight. I invite others to find out for themselves that the teachings of Jesus Christ have been restored in their fulness. As a missionary, I have the unique privilege to represent the Savior and testify to all that He loves them and died for them that they might have everlasting life. I get to teach them about how God reached out in love to restore the organization and authority of His church by calling a modern-day prophet. I get to testify of the truthfulness and power of the Book of Mormon. I get to help people enter the waters of baptism that they too may know the joy I feel from living the gospel. And I absolutely love it! Whether I'm serving as a missionary or not, I live my faith by trying to follow the example of Jesus Christ. Faith impacts me on a daily basis; it gives me purpose, leads me to love my fellowmen, and helps me realize that there is more to life than sometimes what it appears to be. It adds a richness to my life that isn't matched by any other pursuit or activity because it's not just an activity-- it is endemic to who I am. I am far from perfect, but I know that through Jesus Christ, I can overcome my imperfections and weaknesses. Because of that, I have hope.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

It's very simple-- you can pray about the Book of Mormon. We call the Book of Mormon the keystone of our religion because without it, the claim that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's kingdom once again established on the Earth is hollow. The Book of Mormon is evidence that Joseph Smith was called as a prophet in these times to restore the fulness of Christ's church because he translated it through his prophetic calling as a seer by the power of God. So if the Book of Mormon is truly God's word, then Joseph Smith was a prophet. It's an incredible claim, but because God loves us, He will help us know it's true. I have personally experienced peace and hope as I have prayed about the Book of Mormon and as I have lived the teachings of the restored gospel. I have seen how I have changed as I have applied Christ's teachings. But it's up to each of us to act for ourselves to gain that personal experience--to sincerely ask and then see what happens.
