Hi I'm Holly

I'm a Book of Mormon loving, door-knocking, bike riding missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a sister missionary serving in the Arizona Phoenix Mission. I absolutely love testifiying of the Savior, Jesus Christ, everyday. I enjoy teaching the restoration of the gospel/teachings of Jesus Christ. I also enjoy playing the violin, piano, and singing. I find great pleasure in singing with my companion to Mormon Tabernacle Choir CDs in the car. I hadn't planned on being a missionary, but now I can't imagine not being on a mission!

Why I am a Mormon

I had a wonderful childhood. However, as life progressed I found myself faced with challenges and trials. I was always taught about the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my home and at church. As a result, I found myself relying more and more on the Savior to help me through the struggles of life. Looking back I can see the Lord's hand in my life and I know that the teachings I was taught are true. I know because I have seen them bless my life. They bring me comfort and peace as I study the scriptures, pray to my Father in Heaven, and as I attend church meetings. A few years ago, I wanted to gain a sure knowledge and testimony of the Book of Mormon, which is another testament of the Savior, Jesus Christ. I searched it, pondered it, studied it and questioned it. Because I knew that God answered my prayers in the past, He would answer me again. As I prayed with a sincere heart and a desire to truly know if this was His word, and that the fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ had been restored, I felt overwhelming joy and peace, and I knew at that moment, that it was true. It's hard to describe, but I know that through the Spirit I received a sure witness that what I had learned my whole life was and is true.

How I live my faith

Currently I am serving a mission in Phoenix and I love it! I live my faith by bearing my testimony daily. I have the opportunity to knock doors, talk to people on the street, teach people about the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon, and study every day. I have a companion that I get to serve with. Together we are able to see how people come closer to the Savior by reading the Book of Mormon and gaining a testimony of it. Also, by praying and developing a relationship with Heavenly Father, and attending church meetings to feel the Spirit even more in their lives.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Faith is an action word. It means to believe in something that is true, without seeing it. We increase our faith in Jesus Christ by learning about Him, living His teachings, praying to our Heavenly Father, reading from the Bible and the Book of Mormon, and attending church. When we show forth our desire to follow the Savior, and live His teachings, we develop more faith because we see how we are blessed by Him. When I read the scriptures, I question what they teach. When I learn about a commandment, I have to live it in order to receive the blessings from it. When I receive the blessings from keeping the commandments, or reading the scriptures, my faith in the Savior increases.  Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, which includes His Suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane, His crucifiction, and His resurrection, we are all saved from physical and spiritual death. We are saved by the Savior's grace because we will be resurrected meaning our bodies and our spirits will reunite in a perfected state. We will live forever because of what the Savior has done. However, we must do our part in order to live with our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and our families again. We must exercise faith, repent of our sins, be baptized by someone holding the authority of God, which is the priesthood, receive the Holy Ghost, and endure to the end. When we do this, we can live with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ again because of the Savior.  Show more Show less
