Hi I'm Tyler

I'm a college student. I'm awesome. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Tyler and I am 22 years old. I am studying to be an elementary reading teacher and I should be graduating next year. I like to just hang out with my friends and relax. I play tennis from time to time, run and draw. I play video games whenever I have time which means I usually put off homework. I also like to read and I watch T.V...probably a little too much. I love Glee, Fringe, Dexter, No Ordinary Family, The Cape, most cartoons...the list goes on and on. I'm somewhat of a geek when it comes to superheroes and comic books and all of those superhero movies. So I can definitely talk to anyone about that.

Why I am a Mormon

I became Mormon on January 7th 2011. It was a tough decision because of what I thought my friends and family might think. I chose to convert because of the promises that God had made to me. I have been religious my whole life for the most part. I believed in God and what He has done for us. I had always followed the rules and did my best to be a good kid but I always had questions that I couldn't get answered. I think what really convinced me was the plan of salvation and how God wasn't either letting come to heaven or sending us to hell. He is such a merciful God that even after death we still have a choice and can choose Him. I also love that even after all that we will still live in heaven. That there is still a place for everyone and that not one person will be excluded. This really hit me when I thought about my cousin who died a few years ago. She was a good person but she wasn't Christian. I had asked family members where she was going to end up and many of them said that they don't know but probably heaven because she was a good person. But what I believed before said that you must believe in Jesus and what He did and it is not by your works but by your faith. According to that she was damned to hell. What I believe now gives my cousin a another chance and death isn't the end for her. I can still see her again and we can live in heaven. Knowing this alone give me faith in God and His plan for me and I am so grateful to know that someone loves me so much that they would give me all these chances to follow and love them.

How I live my faith

How do I live my faith? Well since I'm a new member I try to be involved as much as I can so that I can experience everything. I haven't received a calling and I haven't done home teaching yet but I tried to be involved. I go to church every Sunday and I try to learn as much as I can. I try to read as much as I can and I still have my missionary lessons so that I can continue learning.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

I don't think so. I personally try to help anyone I can. Not because I am a Mormon but because I want to. I don't want to see someone in need and not help them. I help them because I hope that someday when they see someone in need they remember when I was there for them and they take the time to help that person. Show more Show less
