Hi I'm Doug

I've coached 10 national championship cross-country teams. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I are the proud parents of seven children. I advise college students who plan and run sports and fitness programs. I run 30-50 miles per week. I've written a book describing principles to apply to be successful in distance running and in life.

Why I am a Mormon

As I study the Book of Mormon, Bible, and listen to and follow the words of apostles and prophets, the Holy Spirit whispers to my heart and mind confirming their truthfulness. Through the Holy Ghost, I have come to know that I am a child of a loving Heavenly Father and that Jesus Christ has made it possible for us to be forgiven of our sins and weaknesses, to be strengthened to become like Him as we submit our will to keep His commandments. I have come to know for myself that true peace and happiness come only as we understand and follow the truth as witnessed by the Holy Ghost and not by conforming to worldly standards or philosophies. I wouldn't say life is easier as a Mormon, but it has definite meaning, direction, and purpose that pulls me through the struggles and challenges.

How I live my faith

I pray and study the scriptures and words of the prophets and apostles individually and with my family every morning. I exercise and eat healthy foods to keep fit. I worship every Sunday in church and seek to fulfill church assignments during the week. I go to the temple often. I work diligently to make a difference in others' lives by teaching and living correct principles and by encouraging them to do likewise.
