Hi I'm Seth

I go to law school. I write short stories in my spare time. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Las Vegas, NV, but now only visit there from time to time. Most of my time is spent attending law school at Brigham Young University. I love movies, reading and writing stories. If I could just be a writer for the rest of my life, I would be. In the summers, I go hiking and biking. Being outside is a release for me. I'm an avid sports fan and probably spend too much time reading blogs about my favorite teams.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents both found the church when they were younger, and when I was born, I was raised as a member of the Mormon Church. I think though, that growing up in the Church gives you a unique challenge. There have been several days where I have needed to decide for myself if this was right. Being a member isn't easy sometimes. I grew up in the inner city. Many of my friends had lifestyles that differed from my own. I often felt different and ostracized because of how I lived. Feeling like that challenged my testimony of the Church. When I was only 15 or 16, I knelt one night, alone, and really talked with God. After a long time, pouring out my soul to God, I felt calm and comforted. I wish I could describe that feeling better. Being different wasn't as important anymore. I was happy and knew that the Christ loved me and that the Church was Christ's church. I knew that He had restored His Gospel through a boy over a hundred years before. It may seem strange for a 16 year-old to talk about truth, but I did. I knew that I had been very blessed to have the truth in my life from such a young age. Many of my friends weren't blessed like that. I wanted to give them that sense of peace that I had felt. That one moment was not enough though. I have to keep deciding to serve . Day after day, I make the decide to keep the commandments. Even when it's hard, I keep coming back. I keep coming back because experience has taught me that this is where I can find peace.

How I live my faith

I really wish I lived my faith better. But we all do our best, right? I try to serve people around me in little ways. I hold a door for someone. I talk to a neighbor when they look stressed. Sometimes I'm distracted or discouraged. But I can keep looking for a chance to serve. A unique way I try to serve is through my writing. I want to write uplifting and inspiring stories, but not things that could be turned into Hallmark movies. I believe that I can use my writing to make people think, to challenge their perceptions, or to recall an important lesson they had already learned. Hopefully, someone someday is strengthened or enlightened by something that I write.
