Hi I'm Kevin

I grew up in Utah, and lived in Toronto and China. I'm a Husband, a Father, a Computer Engineer, a Runner, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am working to finish up my master's degree in Computer Engineering. As a husband and father of one cute little boy time is hard to come by. But I try to keep things in balance as I try to do my best at school, work, and home. Sometimes I find time to do some of my other interests - running, photography, etc. I have a small photography company on the side, but mostly just do shoots for family. I hope when I graduate soon that I'll be able to spend a little more time with my family, and maybe some more time on other things too.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents always taught me good principles and I had an amazing group of friends growing up, but at some point I still had to figure out for myself what I believed in. I didn't have just one amazing experience to help me know that this church was truly Christ's church, but rather many, many small experiences. When I would read the scriptures I found that answers to questions that I prayed about would come to my mind. When I would prayer for help for myself or others around me I would see how God would provide a way. Many of these events could easily be passed off as coincidental, but for me they happened to consistently to dismiss. More importantly I came to recognize a feeling that always accompanied such events - what I came to know as the Holy Ghost. Over time my understanding and my belief grew stronger as I continued to pray and study. Now I can say that I know there is a God in Heaven, and that not only is He God, but He is also our Heavenly Father. He loves us and has a specific plan for us. Another way I came to recognize these truths was through listening to prophets. It makes sense to me that if our Heavenly Father loves all of us that he would not just provide us with answers to individual prayers, but that he would continue to give us direction and organization as a group, just as he has done throughout time. As I listen to the words of modern day prophets and actually tried the principles they taught in my own life I found that I was happier and more at peace. Again, I felt that feeling - the Holy Ghost - as I listened to and applied their words. I am so grateful for the direction that modern prophets provide for my life. I feel so much more confident in this troubled world knowing that we can still hear direction straight from a loving Heavenly Father through his prophets.

How I live my faith

The first responsibility I have in my faith is the proper care of my family. Being a father has taught me so much about how our Heavenly Father must feel and helped me to understand so much better why He does some of the things He does. Presently I help leaders in my area to keep track of members in their congregations and various records. Most of the congregations here are students and there are constantly people moving in an out. Each member is important and needs to be cared for, so it is important to make sure that leaders know they are there and help them understand what help they may need. Our Heavenly Father loves each one of us and so we should strive to love all those we interact with.
