Hi I'm Whitley!

Born in Utah and raised in Ohio. I am currently going to school in Idaho and I am engaged! I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am from Kirtland, Ohio and I am a sophomore at school in Idaho. I am majoring in Elementary Education and I am just having so much fun! I have a cute little brother and sister . My parents are so awesome and my dad is a convert of about 10ish years and was just called as bishop of my home ward last year! I love my family so so much! And....I got engaged last month! We will be married in the Idaho Falls, Idaho temple.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I grew up in the church, I am at a point in my life that I could choose what I want to do without really having to answer to anyone. I know with all my heart that this church is true. I know that our Savior, Jesus Christ lives and loves each and everyone of his children. And because he loves all of us, he wants us to be happy and that is why His church is on the Earth today. He wants us to be able to repent so that we can be clean and enjoy the blessings of exaltation with our families in the life after this one. He wants us to not be addicted to the things of this world (alcohol, drugs, materialism, etc...) that might distract us from what is really important in life. Family is the number one important thing in my life. I love my family so much and it is such a blessing to me to know that I can be with my family forever, that I never really have to say goodbye!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing the simple things. I read my scriptures everyday. I have often heard that when we pray to Heavenly Father, that is us talking to him, but when we read the scriptures, that is him talking to us. I know that we can receive the answers to our daily lives problems in the scriptures. The scriptures were truly inspired. I pray everyday as well so that I can maintain that strong relationship to my Father in Heaven because that is the most important thing to me. I regularly attend my church meetings because I know that the people around me can inspire me to live the gospel better and teach me things that I do not already know. And I try to do all that I can to serve others. The scriptures say that serving others is very important, so I try to do that as well. And when I do these things, it makes me not want to do alternative, less wholesome things.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Nobody can tell someone that there is or isn't a God. People need to decide for themselves, I know the answer, but without hard evidence, a person cannot convince another person that God exists. The only way a person can find out for themselves that God exists is through the Holy Ghost. If you want to know, you have to search the scriptures, pray often, and just continually have it on your mind and one day, you will have that feeling and the Holy Ghost will manifest the truthfulness of it to you. I promise. I have had some pretty spiritual experiences that have confirmed this truth to me and I know with all my heart that God DOES exist and loves each and everyone of us because we are all His children! What is being a Mormon like?

Being a Mormon is not necessarily easy, in fact, it takes work. I come from a place where the Mormon population is quite small and that is when it becomes tricky. I had to learn how to stay away from the people and activities that were not agreeable with the church. It is hard, but anything that's worth something is worth working for!! Show more Show less
