Hi I'm David

I'm a Texan transplant, I do taxes and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up hiking and camping in the mountains of Utah and then found myself in Texas with an energy company. Being outdoors was different but we learned to water ski and play tennis and the family soon loved to say, "Howdy" and "Y'all"; we are proud to be from the great state of Texas. Work has allowed me to travel the world but has also taught me that my greatest joys are with my family. Nothing is more important to me than being a good husband, father and grandfather. The Mormon church is much more than a Sunday event for us, it is the foundation of our values, culture and way of life. I'm grateful to have had Mormon principles as the basis for raising 5 wonderful children.

Why I am a Mormon

LIfe can be pretty bleak or confusing if you don't know where you've been, where you are going, and how you are gong to get there. I've found all of those answers and so life is fun and exciting and I deal with the bumps in the road as they come up.

How I live my faith

The Mormon church has given me the opportunity to find myself - from leading scouts, teaching Sunday lessons, speaking before congregations of 1300 people, being a missionary in France and Switzerland, or helping a widow in need, I have learned skills that I would never have acquired any other way. On top of that, I have learned that Jesus Christ knows me by name, loves me, and cares about how I live my life. That gives me faith and motivation to carry on. I'm enduring to the end but having great fun in the ride!

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

To me, it seems so obvious that a God who loves his children would never leave us to wander through life without a prophet. The Bible, through the prophet Amos, says that God will always speak through his prophet and other Biblical prophets testified of the restoration of all things in the latter days. We certainly need a prophet's vision, teachings and guidance in the troubled world we live in. I know the Mormon Church is led by a prophet today and that he is God's spokesman on earth. We can have confidence that though men will try to change the morals of society there is a prophet who can speak with authority, "Thus saith the Lord" and we can know with certainty the difference between right and wrong.
